I never new this website existed. I have had 3 kids in this schools for the past four years. No school is perfect. However, one thing I can say is that whenever I have a problem, I can email the principal and he responds immediately and effectively addresses my concern. My children's teachers have been great for the most part. I've only had one negative experience with a teacher but even in that experience my child still excelled academically and the teacher was professional in her dealings with my child despite our differences. Good leadership makes all the difference and Mr. Wright has done a great job of changing the culture of this school. I highly recommend Leckie to any parent.

Better school than the rating indicates. I've put my kids in here, and I had a choice; I'm glad I did. --Many more military folks have kids in this school in the last few years. The demographics have changed a bit from 2010. Good folks in the community, though. --Key useful point: If your kid is reading at third grade and doing math at second grade, that's the class he or she goes to. No stigma either way; the teaching is to the level appropriate to the student. This is good for advanced students and those who are struggling. --Some support for special needs kids. There are schools in the district with more resources for autistic/etc students, so above a certain level children usually go to a different school nearby. --Drumline and fencing for older students. --New interior renovation summer 2012. Our kids like the new renovation; I like the safety improvements. --Strong principal. Good leadership. --Budget cuts over the last three years have eliminated the library tech, the Spanish teacher, and some other teachers. The core is still good. --Some of the admin staff have poor customer service skills; most are just fine. --Teachers are dedicated and friendly.

I had my inihibitions about sending my children to this school because of the negative things I've heard about DC Public Schools. Quite the contrary...I am thoroughly impressed with the curriculum for my 3rd grader. He is being challenged to the highest degree!!!! The teachers and parents are very involved an extremely motivated. I dont regret sending my kids here one bit...highly recommended!!

This school has gone through some major changes over the last couple of years. It went from a school I was nervous about sending my kids to, too a school that I would recommend to anyone in the area. The teachers are amazing, the staff is always kind and willing to help, and Mr. Wright is also an amazing man that the kids look up to. He's doing a fantastic job; especially with the addition of so many military children. He is meeting every parent, student, and staff members needs to the best of his ability. I'm glad my children are going here.

I have two children currently enrolled Kindergarten and 6th grade this was our first year with our children enrolled in this school and it has been a pleasent experience. We are a military family living in Bolling AFB just a few minutes away and we have been pleasently surprised by the teachers.

I have two children who attend this school and I have nothing but GREAT and WONDERFUL things to say about my experience these past two years. The teachers are excellent and the principal has done an amazing job restoring order to the school. My son and daughter's teachers communicate with me regularly. I can not be happier with my choice of schools. I hope nothing changes next year.

I have a child at this school, this is a very good school. My daughter has been there since 1st grade, she is currently in the 6th grade now. She has a wonderful teacher name Ms. Robinson. This teacher is amazing, very good, strick and organized. I really love this school, however last year they got a new principal. The new principal is not parent friendly, does not listen. I am glad this is my daughter's last year. This is the perfect school if you can deal with a principal that does not know what he is doing. However, the teacher make up for him. If you want a good education, send your child to Leckie.

My kids have been in this school for 2 years and im very thankful that we are moving next year! My kids got lucky on having really great teachers for prek, kindergarden, then 1st and second grade. they have a new principal this year who not only does not listen to the parents, but to me is rude. I have had numerous problems with kids hurting my son very badly and the school doing little about it. Im thankful for the good teachers but think this school is very poorly run. the only reason they went to this school a second year is because I knew it would be thier last year (we are military) and the school is very close to our house (bellevue housing). If we were here any longer my kids would not be going there next year!

This is probably one of the best elementary schools in DC. I live on Bolling AFB and I am so happy with how my boys are doing at school. My PreK son is reading. In fact, his teacher wanted him to go to reading with the 1st graders, which he did for awhile. He was nervous though so now he stays with his class and his teacher works with him one-on-one with his reading comprehension. My 2nd grader is excelling academically. He has done well on all the standardized tests. The principal is excellent. She cares so much about all the children. All the staff put a lot of time and effort to teaching and caring for the children. They give the children opportunities to excel, be responsible, and be leaders.

This is the last year for my child at Leckie and I must say that the four years my child has attended I have been extremely pleased with the teachers and I think the Principal and Assistant Principal are wonderful caring people. They staff really cares about the children acamedic success.
