Heyyy'! I Haven't Seen This School For A While, Even Though I've Been Going Here For 11 Years, I've Heard They Was The Best School In D.C, And They Have Good Test SCORES'!
My daughter attends Langdon Education Campus. Therefore I want to put into Langdon what I want out of Langdon! ~ Love and support for the students and staff so that they can produce great students to succeed!
My daughters are in the Montessori program and I am extremely pleased. My child was reading and doing addition and subtraction before she was 5. The principal is very serious about developing strong readers early. She feels to many children are labeled as having a disability simply because they can't read. It won't happen under her watch!
I am a parent of 3 children that attend Langdon Elementary. I can tell you from my experience the teaching staff have been wonderful. They take education seriously and I have to commend the Principal Ms. Campbell. She holds the teaching staff accountable, you can not say that with a lot of schools. I would defnintely recommend this school to any parent considering a DC Public School education.
My son is in the second grade at Langdon. I was a little skeptical about sending him to this school because the neighborhood was alittle 'iffy'. He came from a chartered school in kindergarten not having learned much at all. He finished out the first grade one of the top children in the spelling bee, top in reading and math. He was spelling words like philanthropist and entomologist by the end of the first grade! His first grade teacher, Ms. Malone was terrific. I heard his second grade teacher is pretty strict. Great! He is outperforming his cousin who is in the 5th grade at another DC school. I recommend Langdon to any parent who wants to see their child succeed. The neighborhood is improving and hopefully the school can get grants for upgrading the cafeteria and classrooms. Overall, excellent academic choice.
My daughter started in Langdon's traditional program for 3 year olds. We had an overall good experience with Langdon. Her preschool teacher was Mr. Montalvan and he was a great teacher! My daughter still talks about him! Mr. Montalvan is very creative and the children absolutely loved him! My daughter's Pre-K teacher was Ms. Dunn and my daughter loved her as well. She is a great teacher! I am not sure if we will be returning for Kindergarten but it is no reflection on the school, I will be switching jobs and I may have to find a school closer to my job. Langdon's staff really cares about the children. One area of improvement that I think the school could focus on is the actual facility. The school really needs some work done and they should make those renovations a priority.
My son is in his 2nd year at Langon, and I tell you, I LOVE IT! As with the other reviews, my son learned to read by the late middle/end of kindergarten..that was exactly 6 months after he started. He ahd an excellent teacher and I am glad I made the switch. He was previously enrolled in a charter-school,but, I was not pleased with the curriculum, or the staff's interaction with the student's. They also did not enforce curriculm and offered a expeditionary learning approach. Kudos to all Langdon teachers. I recommend this school to any parent for their children. From Preschool-6th Grade, EVERYONE is learning!
My son is in his fourth year at Langdon, I too was told that he would be reading by the end of his second year and he was. He now is in the 1st grade and in excelling not on in reading, but in math as well. Langdon definitely is a school that fosters education and instills the importance of it.
Langdon is committed to their children. Education is a primary focus with early development a priority. I was amazed when they said my child could read in pre-school...She was only three and they continued to encourage her. She is now reading fluently in the first grade at a 5-6th grade level. This is not unique for the students at Langdon. If you can excel...they foster your development. I love Langdon.
