Eagle Academy is a GREAT. I would recommend the school. My son loves it at Eagle, he is learning and all the teachers are great with the kids. Yes, they have time out of of school but that will occur with all the schools in this area. The before and aftercare program is wonderful. The program puts on a performace twice a year at Crampton you have to see the kids in action OUTSTANDING. The school will be moving to an new buidling in ward 8. If you have not registred your child get on IT. The school will be the place to have your children.
My Daughter has Been at Eagle Academy for 3 years now, we have been pleased with her progress since enrolling. Her teachers have always been quick to Identify areas of need and to reinforce areas that she has excelled in by way of providing work at a higher grade level so that she does not get bored with the things that she has already mastered. the Staff create a very family-like atmosphere. I feel welcomed and at home each time I enter the building. The Teachers and staff know all of the students not just the ones that are in their classes. Eagle also has a great Before and aftercare program that nurtures the educational things that are taught during the day and enhance the children's creative creative senses and teach fine arts. yes parking is a PAIN but they are moving to a lager facility next school year and after that the parking will not be a problem. I HIGHLY recommend Eagle Academy to all parents looking for a Great Charter School!
I love my child's teacher but cannot stand the school. Parking is horrible, I got a ticket the first day of school this year. And 3 more tickets since then and it's only December. I was told if I fight them I'd win but who has time for that? My child was supposed to start in a grade higher than they were placed in but because the school is over-enrolled and under-staffed my child has to stay in a class where they don't learn anything new. Between having to hear parents curse at their children while dropping off/picking up and listening to at least 9 out of 10 teachers speak with HORRIBLE grammar to the children it's a wonder anyone decent would voluntarily send their child to this school. No teacher should be hired when they say things to students like: "boy we got call yo dad up in here to see why you cryin awl day?" or "I toooold you dis aint how we ack inna school now get back innat line and get a bubble in yo mouth". We only have a short time left in DC so we're sticking it out but I would absolutely home school if the choice was to teach my child by myself or send her to this school another year.
My son was at Eagle Academy for only 2 months, and I took him out. I wasnt satisfied with his teacher at all. The curriculum was on the level I thought it should be. I also thought she paid attention to certain kids rather than others. The location was the worst, I got a ticket my sons first day their because it is no parking at all.
This is my sons second year at Eagle PCS. I can honestly say his first year there was wonderful and I felt he was learning alot unfortunatley, I don't feel the same about the school this year. I almost feel as if my son was over prepared for his current grade and now he is just bored with the curriculum. The staff is rather friendly but they are out-weighed by all the days off from school and the horrible parking at the main campus. We only have a limited amount of time left in DC so I guess I can tough it out until then.
This is my childs first year at Eagle Academy and I am so far not totally impressed. I am actually on this site to compare schools in the area's academic scores etc. My child's teacher appears to be very strict which is required for some students I understand however not every child merits a brash demeanor. I am not sure that she is able to distinguish between those that do and those that do not. The new campus is very clean however I would like to have more security measures in place. The front desk is very unguarded and it is very easy to access the classrooms while going unnoticed by staff. This is a public charter school so I expected more than what I have been able to see from the before mentioned items. I am willing to wait it out because my child seems to be consistantly learning.
This is My son's first year and I am very impressed with the teachers and other faculty everone is so friendly. when you walk in it feels like family.
My son is going on his second year at Eagle Academy. We chose this school for the small class room size and for their early childhood curriculum. The school is not perfect, but the staff is great and very friendly with parents and it appears that all the teachers know each student whether they are in their class or not-which I like. Our child is in the non-category classroom and he has made significant progress since being there. If you have a child with learning delays or disablities, I recommend checking Eagle out for they have a dedicated group of special education educators whose motto is that the child comes first.
I love Eagle Academy. This is my son's first year and I expect great things. Although he was in a great learning environment before attending I look forward to what Eagle Academy has to offer. Catering to our little people is what we need more of and that is their daily goal which shows through their caring principal and friendly staff!
The teachers are great, but the children have too many days out of school. If you are a single parent who needs all the help they can get-this school is not for you.
