This school is by far the best decision I made for my son education. He been in DCPS system for three years and did not learn anything. After two weeks and two assessment tests I found out that my son is testing on a second grade level. I had been asking DC Public schools for two years to test him to see if he is having any learning issues, CAPCS tested him in 24 hours. Let's just say my son education is on the right track. DCPS had three years to do what CAPCS did in 24 hours. We will be re-enrolling next year.

Enrolling my children in CAPCS Online has been the best investment in their education I only wish I had known about this program years ago. The curriculum is comprehensive and rich and has exposed my children to a broad range of information in each core subject, giving them a competitive advantage. The combination of home instruction, online classes and weekly face-to-face sessions with their peers allows me flexibility with teaching and gives my children a focus on learning that traditional public school cannot offer. The administrative staff and teachers are top-notch and very supportive of the students and parents. I am thrilled with my children s growth this year and I definitely plan to enroll my children again.

This has been the best choice for schooling my son and niece. They have learned and achieved so much in this school year. The teachers are wonderful, and show ton of love and support to each and every child and parent. I would definately recommend this for anyone who is not getting their worth at a traditional school.

My family has been a part of CAPCS Online for three years now, and I wouldn't trade our experience for anything! What attracted us to CAPCS Online was the flexible schedule and well-known curriculum. What kept us at the school was the outstanding staff and the fact that my son was enjoying learning! Great school, awesome staff, fabulous network of parents - all in all, a fantastic place to be!!!

This is our first year with CAPCS Online. Our children had always attended private Catholic schools, and we had been very pleased. However, when our daughter was the victim of bullying we knew we had to make a change. Initially, as a temporary solution, we decided on CAPCS Online. Now that we've seen all the benefits to this less traditional schooling, we are sold! The flexible schedule has been so wonderful for our family. We've taken vacations in the off-season, music lessons in the middle of the day, not to mention, homework is not the overwhelming stress it once was. Our children can actually have free time at the end of each day. Another huge benefit is that the children can work at their own pace. If they are enjoying a certain subject they can do two or three lessons in a day. If they are struggling with a concept, they can spend a little more time, until it is mastered. As a parent new to all of this, it seemed overwhelming at first, but the materials are top notch, and the support is incredible. Lesson plans, supplemental material, and everything the "learning coach" requires is at your disposal, not to mention help is just a phone call away. FABULOUS!

I love this school! Why? Excellent principal, teachers, and support staff. This school has a challenging curriculum ( I believe grade level +1). They support the parents and really ensure that the 'partnership' to further the children is solid. For the parents that are looking for an alternative to traditional public school but can not afford a private education, I believe this to be THE BEST alternative. This school allows children to move at an advanced pace. Yet, should your child need additional help, they give individualized tutoring as well. They provide everything you would need for your child (computer, printer, standardized testing, all curriculum, foreign language.....) All in all, if you want the most out of this program, you must be willing to put a lot into it. However, if you do, what a gem you'll find at Community Academy - Virtual Campus!! They structure the program to ensure you don't fail and your child truly gets exactly what they need. My family has been with the school for years and we are extremely pleased with the progress we have seen in our children. They are not only learning, but challenged and encouraged to be individual thinkers!

About the tests


The DC school classification system includes multiple measures to evaluate performance and student growth. The possible classifications, from highest to lowest, are Reward, Rising, Developing, Focus and Priority. These measures include the DC CAS, annual growth, graduation rates, attendance rates and participation rates. Under the system, required under the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA), each school is given a School Index Score based on the performance of its students. Schools receive different levels of support, resources, flexibility and monitoring based on their classification.
