We decided to live in Woodley Park to be in boundary for Oyster-Adams, as we were looking for high-quality bilingual education. Four months into our child's first school year, I can say that the school is surpassing our expectations in all key aspects. The teachers are warm and highly capable, the overall community of parents, staff and children very welcoming and active, the bilingual curriculum very thoughtful and well-designed. The nicest surprise of all has been the quality and range of activities offered via the aftercare program at very reasonable rates. We love seeing our kid so happy and engaged everyday from 8.45 til 6pm. We obviously have to wait and see what happens in older grades but, so far so good. Adelante, Oyster!

Pluses: Families in elementary campus are friendly, approachable and willing to help each other out. Teachers and support staff are helpful and responsive. Lots of diversity within and across families. Inclusive without being "preachy". If you are a parent who does not speak any Spanish, start learning! It will help you help your child and enjoy the current environment of the school as it continues to go through changes. Negatives are unengaging leadership, afterschool model is confusing and seems inequitable, administrative annoyances typical in DCPS schools. Middle school still needs work in management and academics.
