They do a great job of pulling all levels of kids out for extra reading - both high and low levels and working with them to be their best. Because the school is small, all of the teachers and staff know every child in the school and they work as a team. I have received phone calls (both positive and not so positive) from a variety of staff who tell me about my children's progress. My oldest son was diagnosed with ADD in the middle of first grade. I had talked to the kindergarden teacher about having him diagnosed, but she thought we should give him more time - thinking it was a maturity issue. His first grade teacher and I talked throughout the year and in the spring we decided it was time to have him tested for ADD. Now he is in second grade and his current teacher gives me updates regularly on how he is doing and if the medicine is still effective. We lowered his dosage in the fall and she was great about monitoring him to make sure it was still effective. Because the class sizes are small, the children get more attention and time with the teachers. Class sizes are an average of 20-24 (depending on the grade, of course) We love Asotin Elementary, the teachers and staff!
Fantastic Special Education staff and services. The school has a family feel to it where every one looks out for each other.
Asotin Elementary School has a great reading program and the atmosphere in which my daughter participates in is very positive.
I love this school. My family is new to this area with a population of 1100 people, and 500 of those go to Asotin Schools.I say it that way because Asotin is a school of pre-school,elementry,middle school, and high school. So yes 500 total for all of these schools. My daughter has been diagnosed ADHD this past year. This elementry school has been wonderful on making sure she is able to accomplish her academic goals.this is the first school where the principle interacts with all the children. There is no bullying at all nor do you hear of any fights with all school grades.I give this entire achool A+...You can actually feel great about your childs saftey!!
