I withdrew my son after a year because he was 3 and was put in a brand new classroom w/ brand new teachers. Being in a new classroom the older kids (4 and 5 yr olds) did not go through the montesorri experience before thus, I didn't think he was learning as much since the school's model is to have the older kids teach the younger kids. The teachers were new and spoke english as their 2nd language. Both were brand new which I thought that was rather odd since we are paying a lot of $$$--you would expect 1 experienced teacher. The owner/director is not responsive and when I asked for another classroom, she would not allow it so I took him out in AUG. They wouldn't return my deposit even though they have a waiting list and could have filled it since school starts in SEPT.

The reasons I did not continued with first grade after preschool is the big difference between their philosophy statement and reality. Eton does not foster healthy emotional development and assumes that children should be emotionally stable at age of three while he is facing lots of bullying from bigger kids disguised in leaders. At that age most of small kids are not able to recognize a good leader from a bad one and often time follow the inappropriate role model. Facilitate cooperative learning means letting bigger kids discourage the small ones or letting kids gather in groups during class and chat nonsense without teacher intervention. Facilitate independent learning means let a kid poke paper for three years over and over again. Facilitate teacher learning is not in the curriculum because the teacher assistant may not speak proper English and therefore cannot help with certain tasks.

Academically -- our daughters teacher ms baccellieri is amazing! one of the best teachers there. The owner, dr feltin is very cold and i think she cares more about the money as instead of the children. Rarely does she acknowledge you if you are to walk by her. If she does, it does not seem genuine.

This is a very small school so kids get attention to individual needs and are very well supervised. The academics are very-good-to-excellent. The PE, art, music and science programs lack specialized equipment.

I have gone to Veladare School for one year, and the teachers participation with each indivdual is amazing! The Drama and Music programs that they have are fun, yet educational. The Physical Education is intense, but to an extent. The other parents that are involved with this school are nice, encouraging, and involved with their children.

I sent my child to Veladare for the summer although she is not old enough to go on a full time basis. The school came highly recommended by several friends who's children did attend the school. I walked in neutral and walked out so impressed. The teachers were the best I have ever been involved with. They knew how to push the children to levels that I did not think possible and the kids wanted to go there. They are a small school but I will be back to enroll full time.
