It is a wonderful school with exceptional teachers and staff.
Sehome has fantastic teachers. They make up a strong community of learners that drive learners to the utmost. If you are looking for a very solid education for your son/daughter, you're looking in the right ball park. However, the social dynamics of Sehome are a weak aspect. Students are divided into two categories; either difficult and very demanding classes or (for lack of a better word) 'slacker' classes. There is not a world of 'in-between'.
Sehome is a strong high school, one of the best in Washington state even though it is not generally noted in surveys. The school has an especially good math and science curriculum, and the school district in general strongly supports the music program, one recent graduate thereof going on to Julliard in New York. In conjunction with Bellingham High School, Sehome also makes available to its students an outstanding drama program. Naturally, Sehome has the expected athletic programs that most parents want, but I was particularly pleased that Sehome and the Bellingham School District maintains its support of other activities, such as music and drama.
i adore sehome, it is a great school. the teachers are understanding and passionate about their subject. The students for the most part are very nice and laid back. Sehome has great school spirit and awesome sports teams. i don't like how long school is in session, or that students are required to complete a culminating project to graduate. i find the project to be a complete waste of time, and know that most students completely b.s. their way through it. other than that... sehome is pretty awesome.
This is a great school because it gives kids freedom enough to go out and have fun but it is still safe.
