The changes made this year have been phenomenal. The school was sold to a local church. (A great move) The old administrator was brought back. (Also a great move) Everyone seems to be excited about what is happening. For me, I am just glad to see that my student has a great place for a great Christian education. I love the fact that so many people are returning. This is really making it a great place to be!

And to all who posted that homework is excessive, I disagree. From a student, yes we have homework in many classes, but it is a reasonable amount. Those who do not prioritize are the ones who struggle and, in turn, this school is training us to prioritize our time wisely. There are days that I feel overwhelmed, but it is nothing I can't handle. And in the end, there is nothing more fulfilling than ending a long week, discovering that you aced that test that you were dreading.

Regardless of what you may read, this school is on the right track! The staff is improving, the academics are improving, and yes, disipline is enforced. I love the smaller classes, more on on one time, and knowing the students my child is in class with. The change of administation has the school moving forward, with great energy! Tuiton is worth it, financial aid is available, Christ is the center. We love the school and plan on staying there for years to come.

Two of my children attend this school. They are challenged and read above grade level. This school nurtures my children as I would do at home. The classroom sizes are small and each child gets one on one attention. The teachers truly care about each and every child. They are not only prepared for academic achievements in life, they are also prepared with christian hearts to meet the challenges life gives us.

If this school was public, I would rate it higher, but since sending 3 of our children to this school and paying the high cost of tuition, I have to rate the school as a whole Below Average. I believe they are now (2011) trying to get to an Above Average education, and they definitely succeed in the Christian environment they provide, but academically they fall short in the mandatory curriculum such as high-level math, A/P, and Science. English is just Average. As another parent said, elective choices are lacking. Problems in the past 2-3 years with leadership in the school are a struggle to overcome, as enrollment dropped drastically because of it. Coupled with today's economy - their tuition is high and the return is low. Academic scholarships should be flowing, and that's just not the case with the graduating classes. I hope to see improvement in the next 2 years with the school's new leadership.

We have at least one student at this school for many years. In short, if you are looking for a school with teachers who love Christ, then you have found a great school for your kids. Christ is in the hearts of the teachers and in every classroom and much of the curriculum. If you are looking for a college prep school, keep looking. The school has neither the staff nor the commitment to provide quality college prep instruction. In particular, Math and the few AP classes available are poorly taught as witnessed by the placement and struggles of recent graduates. Math instruction ends with Calculus. As taught, calculus at the school does not prepare most students for pre-calculus at the college level. A recent marketing campaign to suggest the school is somehow preparing the next generation of Christian leaders is unfounded and there are very few leaders within the school and within CRISTA ministries itself to provide such lofty instruction and example. This is, in our experience, a highly priced school that delivers a sub-standard education in a warm hearted, Christian environment.

Our expectations are high because we are paying tuition, and a high tuition compared to other private K-12 schools across the US. The children get a Christian environment to learn in and the teachers love the Lord and our kids, so that's awesome, but academically they let us down. There aren't as many electives in High School as other schools, their math program is 1 year behind many public high schools (but you can jump ahead based on ability), the majority of A/P students do not pass the final exam to earn the college credit. Homework is excessive. They do a good job, but not an over-the-top job, of teaching, which is what we expect for our tuition.

I attended KW for 7th-12th grade. At first I didn't like it because I resisted the spiritual aspect and I didn't have a large variety of electives to choose from. But looking back, I got a great education there, and my life was touched by some very special teachers and individuals. The class size is small, perfect for one-on-one interaction with the teachers on a daily basis. The overall environment is very conducive to learning, but it's not for slackers. If you truly desire to learn and to push yourself academically (which is the only way to prepare for real life) then KW is the school for you. If you want to breeze through school just to graduate and make your parents happy, don't come here. If you can't handle a conservative environment, don't come here (although you would benefit from seeing the world from a logical point of view).

We have had the privilege of sending two children through King's West School. Our son started in 8th grade and our daughter in 7th. Both of them thrived in the wholesome, nurturing environment. Both were challenged academically and spiritually. Both were WELL prepared for college. The teachers and staff were extremely professional and willing to go the extra mile when help was needed throughout the years. It is a family atmosphere and students are not allowed to 'get away' with mediocre. They are challenged with morality, self-discipline and integrity... something difficult to achieve in the public school setting. I highly recommend King's West School.

Our first child started at Kings West in K & cont'd thru 3rd. We reached a financial wall & could not afford to continue her education there so we open enrolled her into the best public elementary school in our district. She was so far ahead it was hard for them to keep her challenged. She was moved up in certain subjects & was doing freshman math in the 7th grade. When our second daughter reached school age we wanted to give her the same start her sister had but felt guilty about not bringing her sister back to Kings West so we applied for financial aid & enrolled both girls in Kings West. Our older daughter feels like she is home & is being challenged & thriving & excelling again in her school work, our younger daughter is also excelling & is growng scholastically and spirtually. Would give the school a five-star review, but...unless you are a born-again, right wing conservative (yes, I know that's redundant) you will not enjoy yourself. I'm Christian (adjective, not noun) but consider myself moderate in my politics, and don't fit in very well. Many students are incredibly sheltered and naive, completely unprepared for the outside world because they've been babied up in the 'Christian Bubble.' To compensate, many simply attend Christian colleges and never interact with the rest of society. A real shame with all the bright minds that attend.

Placing my child here was the best choice ever. The teachers have high expectations instead of just letting kids skate by doing the least possible, and as a result their graduates generally excell.

I would not recommend this school unless your a complete genius. The teachers there put way too much pressure on you to do well, and assign way too much homework. The rules are horribly strict and so much time is wasted on enforcing them.horribl

Do not send your child to this school for kindergarten, especially if you have a smart, active child. We were told by the educational 'professional' at this school that our child was 'immature' and 'disruptive' and that he should be held back one year. We moved our child to another school, (public, surprisingly!), and, not only were we told almost the exact opposite but he has thrived in a totally different environment. So, beware of this school! Especially kindergarten. Unless they actually hire an individual who actually has experience with young, active, intelligent children in the future, you are wasting your time and money and creating unnecessary stress for your child.

King's West has been a wonderful blessing to all three of our children. The faculty is warm, yet sets high standards, so the students receive challenge but also lots of encouragement. Most impressive to me has been the way the students have welcomed our boys when they transferred to King's West from public schools. It was clear that the kids had learned to show genuine love and compassion to others, even in fourth and fifth grade. Our oldest is now in junior high, and I'm delighted with his cross country experience as well -- once again, he's being pushed to do his best, but in a very supportive atmosphere that's consistent among coaches and athletes. We'd highly recommend King's West for anyone in Kitsap County.

We found King's West by accident - we call it grace. Our oldest son entered King's West in 7th grade because we just couldn't send him to he local public jumior high. Now in 8th grade, he has found support to achieve personal excellence and guidance to expand his faith. We have since enrolled our 6th garde daughter. She has been guided to high level math through excellent placement testing and post-admission mentoring. Students, teachers and parents are open and willing to help in academics, sports and faith. If you live in Kitsap county and you have kids - you owe them and to yourself a visit to King's West. In 2006, 100% of the graduates went to colleg on a combined scholarship award of over $1,000,000. I attended this school for one year, unhappy with the public school. The discipline in this school is horrible. There is always a constant disruption in classrooms, when kids get sent out they get a 'stern speaking to' by the principle, then can go back to disrupting. The academics are okay, but I was only challenges by about 2 teachers. The extracurricular activities are their, only is people want to do the sport though, alot of the kids are lazy. There aren't many clubs, but you can bring up an idea to a teacher. They do have mission trips. The atmosphere is nice, but the same people are always around, so you have to be friends with everyone, which some people I just don't get along with. I would like to stay, but am not heart broken i can't.

I could hardly be more happy with another school for my daughter. Quality education, a great setting, excellent teachers and staff, and many programs to suit a wide variety of wants and needs, I have made the best choice possible. Although the school is fairly new, it is obvious that it runs very smoothly and everyone from staff to parents go out of their way to help when it is needed. The high school graduation and college attendance rate is mind blowing. King's West consistently outperforms its rivals.
