As a parent of children in Visions and one not in Visions I am sad to see a school promote social separation. There is very little diversity due to the tuition families have to pay to be accepted into the Visions program. $350 a year for 1 child, $500 for 2 or more. I feel sad for our friends that cannot afford to pay and it creates some animosity among the parents which trickles down to the students. I am surprised that this program exists. I thought we did away with segregation long ago.
The Visions Program isn't what it used to be. Over the past 3 years it has morphed to become less creative and more traditional . With all of the requirements Visions demands it has been very disappointing. Visions creates segregation among the students. Also, with a growing surplus of funds , while the rest of the school goes without, they continue to raise the amount required per family while kicking out families that can't pay. Bummer...
Clear Lake is a public school. But as far as the traditional school systems go this is the best in the area!
Our children are enrolled in the visions program at Clear Lake. It is a wonderful, experiential learning program! It requires active parent participation in the classroom. My daugther has really excelled there.
My children are enrolled in the Visions program. Parent involvement is mandatory. We love the teachers, the multi-age classroom and the sense of community within the program. The principal makes a point to make each child feel special and is very visible on campus.
The Visions Program at Clear Lake is a very special program which provides students with many wonderful activities and learning opportunities that most public schools can't afford. This is possible because of parent participation and fundraising. Ideally every school should be able to offer the opportunities that the Visions Program does, but in our current economy that is an impossibility, so we feel very fortunate to have this special program as an option for our children.
