Profile Completeness

INTERMEDIATE

Want to improve this school’s profile? You can!

All schools on GreatSchools begin with BASIC completeness, which includes important information like contact details and test scores. It’s up to the school community to take the next steps. As a parent or community member, you can share what you know with other families by writing a review or answering a few questions about what the school offers. As a school leader, you can upload photos, describe school programs, and more with an Official school profile.

The completeness meter moves to INTERMEDIATE, then ADVANCED, and finally HONOR ROLL as you complete the following: 10 or more reviews, at least 1 photo, and 9 program questions parents find helpful.

My family recently moved into the neighborhood, but after reading some reviews, we decided to home school for this year. A couple of weeks ago, we did a walk through of the school and met with the interim principal and did a walk through of several of the class rooms. I thought the staff was very friendly and overall, I thought the school was fine. (I didn't think it was outstanding, but it wasn't as bad as many of the reviews made it seem)The reason we did the walk through was to determine if we would be sending our kids there next year. My only concern is safety. I noticed that the class room doors were not locked and anybody could open them. This is not a closed campus, so I feel like anyone could easily bypass the office and enter a classroom. I asked the principal about it, and she said the school didn't feel that safety was a problem. I only live half a mile from the school, and I see how much police activity goes on here. I feel like the school is not being proactive in keeping the kids safe. It only takes one time, by one person, to create a safety issue. Locking the doors is one simple way to help keep kids safe. For this reason, we will be homeschooling next year.

Olivia park has the rudest office staff and principal I have ever met!! These people obviously hate kids and defiently should not be working at a school! My daughter has had one amazing teacher here and the other ones were not good at all! needless to say I transfered my daughter out of this school!

I have not been very impressed with this school. My son has been a student for 4 years and each year seems to get worse. The office staff has to be the rudest and the phone etiquette is awful. I find this school to be very unorganized. My other two younger children will definitely not be attending this school.

I have been warmed with open arms as a volunteer for Olivia Park Elementary School's community garden. I have seen many volunteers, teachers and students dedicate their free time to the school's wholsome approach.

They have wonderful staff and faculty who make the children feel comfortable and proud to be polar bears. They also draw in the community, establishing a sense of belonging that has not existed for quite some time. I love Olivia Park Elementary School because this school is doing what every school should do - educating students in a positive light, and encouraging parent and community involvement!

This school is amazing. The architecture and outlay of the school allows the kids to express their creativity, from playing on the creative playground to decorating the halls with their posters. The teachers really care for the students. The education program digs deep into the students, promoting leadership and imagination. The brand new garden is the physical proof that a community can work together to create amazing things. It's the perfect school for the kind of neighborhood.

The school is awful, and overcrowded for sure. There might be a few kids who are motivated to learn but most of them moved to the schools on the West side of the district under the "choice program". The leadership is terrible. One year they had "no homework" policy, last year they changed it but some kids already used to not having homework and not willing to learn at all. PTA is not bad though- they do have quite a few free events during the school year.

there is a "special quality" about olivia park. I had transferred my son from odysee right after I had issues witht he principal and diciplianrian there. I found the principal, my sons teachers, the psychologist, nurse and staff all working together and truly communicating with each other to do the best for my child. I have also heard this from other parents as well. They also sponsor other free events for students and families, such as recycled arts night, movie night, and the garden every saturday. there is a certain spirit there, a certain inclusiveness that you wont find these days at other schools and it has to do with the leadership. Ms. Reclasado listens, and is prepared to work as a parnership with parents, thats a quality that you will not find anywhere else.

My daughter has attended this school for 5 years. The staff is very friendly and accomadating. The teachers are very helpful. It will be sad leaving this school, since this is my daughters last year here. I'd say its the best elementary school in the district.

My son and daughter both attend this school and I am very happy with their progress. The teachers care about their learning, as when I have questions the contact me back within a days time. They explain things that I don't understand. My son is in speech classes and was having trouble learning with the class. His teacher talked with me, we had a group meeting with the school psycoligist, principal, teachers and others to help develop a plan for him to learn and feel good about himself. It was a simple star chart, but it made all the difference for him!! Teamwork is how it is accomplished. The only bad thing is the lack of PE and Music.
