Our school ROCKS! Every teacher here gives 100% to help every child reach their full potential. Great parents really make it a great place to work, too!
The teachers care. They talk to parents, they want the students to succeed. Great homework packets given once a week in 5th grade. I was disappointed that there are no classes for students who are gifted. This is certainly not the only school with that problem though, they all seem to be dumbing down our kids' education. There is something seriously wrong with the choice of math curriculum in Washington, the kids need to learn the basics and there are also too many that can't spell.
My son attended Wolfle Elementary School for 3 years. Wolfle staff, from the Principal to the staff in the cafeteria and even the janitors have just one thing they are working for. That is to see that a quality education is available to all who attend. Everyone is cheerful and upbeat day in and day out. Parents are kept up to date through hand outs as well as through conferences on a regular basis. Got questions about your child's progress? I've never had a teacher tell me they don't have time for me or to 'schedule an appointment'. My concerns are addressed immediately. Most, if not all, teachers and the Principal himself, are available outside at the buses each and every day. Wolfle gets straight A's from me! It provides a unique multicultural learning enviornment that is not available anywhere else. It is simply impossible to please SOME people....
My daughter attended Wolfle for a couple of years and I have to agree with the person who wrote in Feb of 07. Most of the attention is given to kids with issues or learning disabilities. If your child is advanced in any way this is definitely not the school for them. They will not be challenged to the level that they deserve.
My child has attended this school for the past 3 years.I have spent a great deal of time at the school as a volunteer. It is a terrible school. Most of the teachers are incompetent and the principal is ineffective at dealing with parent complaints. There will be a new principal in the fall but it will take years before this school is straightened out.I would strongly encourage any parent in the area to home school or seek out alternatives. This school is a complete disaster.I have spent the last year trying to get the school district to pay attention to the problems at this school, but they don't seem to care.I would not advise parents to leave their child's education up to these incompetent teachers. There is a lack of supervision on the school property. This school is also full of bullies and the staff will not stop them. The staff does nothing about bullies.
This school is suffering heavily from the 'waslization' of education. 4th graders do not get regular instruction in Science, History, Social studies, or Health, but instead spend inordinate amounts of time on 'wasl-prep'. Washington State history, a course they are supposed to get, is tought infrequently, to make time for WASL curriculum. The same is true of other course-offerings they should be getting regularly. I would advise new parents in the Wolfle district to look to home schooling, charter schools, or some other means of educating their child.
We have had children attending Wolfle since 1991. During that time, my children have received a very high quality education, have had the opportunity to interact with students of different cultures and have felt very much part of a close school community. My oldest daughter just completed her first year at Gonzaga University in Spokane and made the Dean's List for spring semester - a very successful start! I attribute this, to a significant degree, to the strong start she had at Wolfle Elementary. I strongly encourage people to send their children to Wolfle and to GET INVOLVED with their school. Parents and other community members are welcome and very much needed - especially for our outstanding reading tutoring program! I can't say enough good things about the outstanding teachers and staff at Wolfle Elementary!
