This school has been a blessing for our three children. We move every four years and are not always able to get a good school. We lucked out this time and Naselle-Grays River Valley School is awesome! Their teacher-to-student ratio is great. The children are excelling in their studies. The school is up to date with the newest technology to further their success for the future!
Naselle is a great school. K-12, the staff care about the students, the administration is on the ball and doing the best they can with the funds they get....the Superintendent is doing a great job! We love the Principal and V. Principal. The board is a group of caring individuals, a group of mature adults who know how to work with each other. Finally! The school has made VAST improvements over the last 5-6 years, and it's obvious from the positive morale at the school. Nice to see people coming to the sporting events again! The boys basketball team, especially, nice to see them looking like a team again! Way to go Comets!
The Naselle School District has a great teaching staff, coaching staff, and administration. Though controversial, the athletic director has completely turned the athletic programs around providing quality and supportive opportunities for all students. This turn around has also impacted the attitude of the entire student body and coaching staff, making Naselle stronger than ever. He was able to make a bold decision stading up for what was right and what was best for our kids. We support our athletic director, superintendent and all board members. They are quality people, and well able to do an awesome job as they have proven!
While the teacher and curriculum quality are adequate, the administration at Naselle is sorely lacking. We have a part time superintendent that is not at the school on any regular schedule. He recommended an Athletic Director that is a young teacher with little teaching experience and no coaching experience in his first year of any administrative duties. Together they have succeeded in convincing the school board to fire our basketball coach without good reasons. The school board did not seek any community input or talk to players and parents before they made this decision. Even after the community highly protested this action, the board disregarded their request of reinstatement of our coach. The superintendent was quoted in the local paper as saying that the board does not need a reason to fire a coach. They can fire a person even if they do not like the color of their hair.
