I am not qualified to rate more than one teacher at Nespelem Elementary, but our experience with the management staff and with Mrs.Julie Anthony, preschool teacher, was very good. In an area plagued by poverty and apathy, this is the little school that tried...our granddaughter attended Mrs.Anthony's class, and we (grandfather&grandmother)were well-received and welcome when we participated in parties and class activities. There was good parental turnout at classroom events. We think the starting years are most important to students because the stage is set, so to speak, for future attitudes about school and learning, and Mrs.Anthony did everything she could to encourage these young minds to enjoy learning. Perhaps if all the little ones had begun wtih her or a teacher like her, many of the problems and lack of academic skill found in the upper grades could have been averted.
