Mark Twain Elementary School 2

This school has an open playground, and teachers fail to respect rules on entries to provide security from the wrong person coming into the schools. The classes are too big and there are too many students. Getting information from the teacher is like pulling our child's teeth and when brought up to the principle there is no follow through.

While brief, it seemed that this school had it together and we were impressed with the caring attitude we saw.

Parent involvement is high; Mark Twain is the only school to offer a 'Arts & More' program (provides hands-on learning of drama, crafts, movement, etc); the teachers are high quality and use very effective teaching methods; the district also offers a reading recovery program for ALL first grade students (all first graders will be reading at or above first grade level upon advancement).
