Want to improve this school’s profile? You can!

All schools on GreatSchools begin with BASIC completeness, which includes important information like contact details and test scores. It’s up to the school community to take the next steps. As a parent or community member, you can share what you know with other families by writing a review or answering a few questions about what the school offers. As a school leader, you can upload photos, describe school programs, and more with an Official school profile.

The completeness meter moves to INTERMEDIATE, then ADVANCED, and finally HONOR ROLL as you complete the following: 10 or more reviews, at least 1 photo, and 9 program questions parents find helpful.

Both of my kids went to Cascadia - one is now in middle school and another in high school. Cascadia has had a very positive, long-lasting impact of both of them that we are able to sell well after they graduated from CMS. It is a fantastic school that is focussed on the well-rounded development of the students. The academic standard are high with real focus on helping each student learn and apply the concepts. Mrs. Franklin is an inspiring teacher and leader. She sets high standards and cares deeply about the students. She is at the heart of the wonderful community of students, teachers and parents at Cascadia. We couldn't be happier!

Cascadia is a unique and special place. The teachers at Cascadia are experienced and don't just teach the curriculum. They are creative and find ways to help each child flourish. The key in the curriculum is the fact that the director teaches second grade herself. This is the time when the child is prepared for the intense writing skills and complex math, like pre algebra, that are taught in the next two grades. She steps in at 2nd grade to provide each child individualized attention to assure successful transition to 3rd and 4th grade. The students are respectful and supportive of each other. Kindness, respect and a love of learning is fostered here. My son is now 15 years old and he is academically successful at a college prep private school because of the foundation that Cascadia has given him. Socially, the eight kids from his graduating class still keep in touch and recently united to spend time with the director. Cascadia guarantees not only academic success, but it encourages bonds that last beyond the elementary years. My son tells me that Cascadia years form some of the most powerful memories of his childhood. Cascadia produces impressive long lasting effects.

Cascadia Montessori School is one of the best private elementary school on Eastside. Our kids study in 2nd and 4th grade. What we like about Cascadia: 1. Academically focused. Curriculum is very focused, advanced and rigorous 2. Solid foundation: School provides a very strong foundation and teaches the kids to be eager to learn, respectful, focus on thought process 3. Small class and school size fosters life-long relationships, individualized teaching plans, strong bond between students and teachers 4. Reading and Writing: Strong emphasis placed on reading, writing and penmanship 5. Community: Students are taught and encouraged from an early age to help the community Mrs. Franklin, the Director knows each child personally. She guides & interacts with them and is wonderful. She has dedicated her life in building this school and maintaining the standard and guiding principles. All the teachers at Cascadia are wonderful and a delight to interact with. They are very accessible, provide detailed feedback and shape our children into wonderful human. To summarize, from our perspective, Cascadia Montessori School is the best school for preparing your child for the future.

Cascadia Montessori School (Redmond) is an amazing school. My kids have loved their experience there. The student/teacher ratio is low, with top notch teachers plus low turnover. What distinguishes the school in my opinion is it's focus on developing the whole child - academically and socially. It's has the right amount of academic rigor (very reasonable daily homework plus school work) and personal attention to the kids' needs (socially, developmentally). As the kids progress to the higher grades, the teachers are excellent in instilling a greater sense of responsibility, independence, and critical thinking. You truly see the difference grade by grade. All the kids are really respectful, nice and driven. As parents, we've loved the community feel too among parents and kids. Mrs. Franklin cares a lot about the kids and you can see it in her daily interactions with them. They love and respect her. My daughter has since graduated and all her peers have gone on to be accepted at top schools - public and private. Cascadia has a strong reputation. It's a hidden gem that we found only through word-of-mouth. Highly recommend the school.

Both my kids have been going to Cascadia for 2+ years now and we couldn't have been more happier that we found this school. The quality of education is top-notch and the teachers are well rounded. Mrs. Franklin is really amazing with the kids and provides a great learning and nurturing environment for them. The student/teacher ratio is also excellent and kids get a lot of attention and i can see them grow every day. After care program is awesome too and kids have a lot of fun in the huge playground. They offer a variety of classes other than the academia that one can enroll kids in for after care program ranging from art to dances such as bollywood or African dance or learning chess. Apart from the academics, students in their school curriculum get a lot of exposure to other skills like music, drama, dance (hip-hop) and these performances by the talented kids are one of my most favorite moments of the school years. Overall, a great school and we are really happy and thankful.

I have two kids studying at Cascadia. This is our sixth year studying at the school, and we continue to be amazed by how much the principal, and the teachers, care about the kids. Both my kids are very different, and the teaching styles are adapted to ensure that they are both successful. The teachers recognize their strengths, and work on their weak areas in a very collaborative way. The teachers are also available to talk and give constructive feedback. There have been times when I thought that my kid may have misbehaved at school and spoke with the teachers about it. It was interesting to see that the teachers had such a good understanding of how my kid behaves on the playground. The academic program is intense and I am happy to see that the kids learn by building strong foundations. It is not about rote learning, but about understanding why work is done in a particular way and understanding the logic. There is a strong emphasis on cursive writing. The lovely playground is one of the highlights of the school and my kids insist on staying back to play after school. They also get an adequate amount of recess time, Also, the school does not have any auctions or fundraisers.

Both my kids have attended Cascadia. My older one finished size years there starting at Pre-K thru the 4th grade and my younger one is still a student there. I have found that both my kids have really blossomed in the environment there, despite they being very different kids. You might find other reviews here complaining about different things, but one thing that really sticks out with Cascadia is that the staff and director REALLY care about the kids and do the very BEST for them always. They are able to provide an extremely caring and nurturing environment for the kids. Given that most of the teachers have longevity in the school, they are able to KNOW each individual child to a depth, that is frankly unmatched by other larger schools. They then use this deep insight and knowledge that is built over several years to provide for the best for the children. At the end of the day, that's the most important characteristic that you want out of a school.

Both of my children went to Cascadia Montessori from K-4 so I am writing from many years of close personal experience with this wonderful school. Both the kids, simply loved going to Cascadia. It was like a home away from home for them. The school has a rigorous academic program and the children learn a lot there. The teachers are caring and know each child personally. The teachers coach and work with each child individually to help him or her attain best level of personal success. The director of the school has been running the school for a very long time. She loves children at Cascadia and is immensely proud of them. The school has a large, picturesque playground in the back with natural grass (a rarity these days!) where my children enjoyed playing almost every day. The school has extracurricular activities like singing, hip-hop dance or school play in which everyone participates. In addition to all of that, I feel that Cascadia played an important role in encouraging my kids to become well-behaved, respectful, independent children. Overall, it was a great experience for my kids and I am grateful to the school for providing an amazing educational foundation for them!

If you are looking for a nurturing, yet academically challenging environment, then Cascadia is the school for you. The teachers at Cascadia believe in growing well-rounded kids. They do this by helping them build confidence and self-esteem through numerous occasions for presenting in front of the class, solving problems collaboratively, and learning to resolve conflict in positive ways. Cascadia also boasts a very high rate of its graduating class entering top-notch independent schools in the area (Lakeside, Overlake, Forest Ridge, Eastside Prep, etc.) and the Quest Program in the public school system. Every teacher from pre-K to 4th grade is outstanding. Mrs. Franklin provides leadership and guidance in a thoughtful and caring way. Cascadia is her family. We are delighted that we chose Cascadia for our kids.

Very small school with less than 70 kids, no diversity (95% Asian) and no resources (no gym, no cafeteria, no library). They hire bus companies to take the kids twice a month to the gym or library. This is definitely not a Montessori school so make sure you ask for the teachers qualifications before enrolling. They try to sell you a low teacher/student ration but in reality there s only one teacher per class, the rest of them are there to do paperwork or police the kids. Their only focus every day is getting the paperwork done. If your kid is slower, he will have to stay in at recess and finish the paperwork. Also, if the kids don t behave, they take time away from recess. Lots of parent volunteering required. Also, this school has more vacation and days off than any other school. The main problem with the school is the principal. She is very controlling. Everything has to go through her and she never accepts any feedback. If your kid has any problems in school, she will question your family values and dynamic. She talks down to the parents. She doesn t have a good communication system with the parents. She will spam you every day with tones of emails and papers send home.

This is an excellent Elementary private school in Redmond area. If you are looking for quality education as well as discipline for your child then this is the right place. CMS has a strong and unique academic program right from Pre-K to Fourth grade that comprises progressive education, as well as it provides a warm, nurturing environment.

Cascadia may be a good school, but it is not Montessori at all and should stop using the word in their name. Montessori schools have classes with at least a 3-year age range. Children in Montessori choose what to do, with help from teacher-given lessons. You will not find this at Cascadia.

Our daughter attended Cascadia Montessori pre-K through part of the 1st grade until we moved to another state. Since then, I had an experience with 2 different highly rated private schools. Cascadia Montessory really shines in comparison! The academics , the small, caring nurturing environment and the way the schol is run are simply superb!

This is a solid, safe learning environment for most children.Children who need a formal and relatively structured learning environment may feel a bit lost but self-motivated kids do superbly here. For instance,we have one son who has only ever attended Montessori and thrives while one of our daughters has thrived in another, more structured school. As a smaller, private school it doesn't offer the extra-curriculars that a public school might have but does well with music and art offerings.New school building opened in 2003 and is in a beautiful setting with plans to add another building within the next couple of years.Parent involvement is strong as well as the vision for the direction and future of the school from its Principal.Great alternative to public school in an area sorely lacking in private school options.Graduates of Cascadia's 6th or 8th grade usually report success outside of the Montessori setting.
