Want to improve this school’s profile? You can!

All schools on GreatSchools begin with BASIC completeness, which includes important information like contact details and test scores. It’s up to the school community to take the next steps. As a parent or community member, you can share what you know with other families by writing a review or answering a few questions about what the school offers. As a school leader, you can upload photos, describe school programs, and more with an Official school profile.

The completeness meter moves to INTERMEDIATE, then ADVANCED, and finally HONOR ROLL as you complete the following: 10 or more reviews, at least 1 photo, and 9 program questions parents find helpful.

While most aspects of the school are very good, the administration is a blight on its otherwise good reputation. Shelia Kris has expelled 15 students without any kind of investigation. She is like a mad dog driven by her own ego.

I'm not sure what's happened to Blanchet, but it's now a school with such weak leadership that bullying has become a prevalent behavior among the student body. The school administration claim they care, but no one does anything about it, and the students know it. You don't dare to be different, otherwise you'll be picked on and made fun of. A lot of kids have left the school because of the bullying. There are a lot of great teachers, but they are powerless to do anything.

A safe environment for your teenager to learn and play sports. The curriculum is well above that of public schooling and deffinitely helps once said teen continues to college or whatever their choices are in life this school will teach them to be better people. You have your partiers and different groups like most schools but there's a zero tolerance policy which keeps the place safer. Great sports program. Sports athletes need to keep a certain grade point average to play which keeps them not only focused on sports but schooling also. So if I had a kid I'd send them to where I went and be happy with the fact they're getting a great education and if they're into sports then this is the place to go. especially cross country and track long distance.

I don't understand all the one-star ratings. So far BBHS has been absolutely fantastic. When I was a freshman the transition from Middle School to High School was as smooth as possible, and after a week I felt like I belonged. The teachers really care about you and want you to succeed. They provide you with all the resources you need to be a well-rounded individual. The extra-curricular activities are second-to-none, and I love all the choices for electives. I have made so many good friends, and I have nothing bad to say about this school.

Very unimpressed. I have two children attending at present. The teachers are unyielding and dogmatic in their approach to assignments and overall academics. Considering the tuition costs and the further demands of each family to contribute either financially or through service, I would expect much more from such an investment. Your child will be far better off going to UPrep or one of many vastly better private schools.

Bishop Blanchet is corrupt institution in which the students are constantly brainwashed/forced with their Catholic ideals which does not provide an environment for the student to explore different religious options. How can someone become the buddhist monk or jewish rabbi they want to be if their isnt any encouragement to explore different religious opportunities? If you want your child to have a chance in this world, then Blanchet is not fit for you.

Blanchet offers a good overall education, but if your child has difficulty in a specific class, there are inadequate resources or parent communication. The coursework and homework expectations are steep and at times unattainable. Athletic opportunities are minimal unless your child is exceptional in the given sport. If you are looking for a family-oriented catholic education, then Blanchet is not for you. Blanchet will deny entrance of your childrens sibling(s) without adequate cause and lie to you during the admissions process. The focus is more in tune with keeping their stats high or securing spaces for those who make large financial 'donations' than providing a sound catholic education to active catholic families. Blanchet has forgotten that they are a Seattle Archdiocesan school introduced into the Seattle area to provide a quality religious-based education, not a non-denominational private school.

Blanchet is the ideal school for students who want a well rounded education. The academics are challenging, the school environment is positive and the overall community is very supportive. I have had fabulous teachers who give 250% all of the time, coaches who are dedicated to each and every player and an experience that will prepare me for my next step - college. I will be applying to a variety of schools and feel VERY prepared for my future. Blanchet is a dynamic school!

Blanchet is an amazing school. I am now a senior at Seattle University and find that I am better prepared than many of my peers. I often find that in English classes I have read the works assigned before. I was also well prepared for my Philosophy and Religion classes required at a Jesuit institution such as Seattle U. I enjoyed my time at Blanchet, and felt that through anything I had a strong support system in the faculty, staff and my peers. The teachers want to see you succeed inside and outside of the classroom. Many of the students are from backgrounds other than Catholic. I did find that my friends who attended Parochial grade schools thrived better in the environment at Blanchet. I think it was because they were better prepared for the the level of academic rigor in such a school.

Outstanding school. New principal is a dynamic, thoughtful administrator who is willing to listen to parents, faculty and students and open to making proactive decisions, improving the overall education for our students. It's a fresh and welcoming change that Blanchet has been craving for years. The education at BBHS is outstanding. Great community, dedicated and wise faculty members, an excellent education with exceptional students. I would recommend Blanchet to everyone interested in an outstanding Catholic school - even if you are not of the Catholic faith.

We couldnt' be happier at Bishop Blanchet! Our daughter is currently a junior and is receiving an excellent education. Her classes and teachers have been outstanding, the administraton is very understanding of the developmental needs of teenagers and the parent community has been incredibly warm and welcoming. We appreciate the dedication and focus on christian values. Our daughter is planning to attend either Boston College, Notre Dame or Georgetown. She currently has the grades and the test scores. Blanchet has done and excellent job in preparing her for the next step - an excellent college experience. Thank you Blanchet!!

Bishop Blanchet is by far the best school Seattle has to offer! My son and daughter have received a fabulous education - learning from very knowledgable and compassionate teachers. Their high school experience was incredibly positive, stimulating and most importantly, provided them the foundation and opportunity to attend exceptional colleges. Thank you Blanchet for six wonderful years!

Really feels like a public school education, at a very expensive price. Education is certainly better for the area, but not worth it.

I am a student here and have a lot of learning disabilities. The Michael Ufer Academic Support for success program saves my life. I probably wouldnt be at blanchet if it wasnt for it. Also, I went through hard times last year and a teacher is sort of like my counselor. I can talk to her about what happened and feel like i have a support system on my side.

I am a current senior at Bishop Blanchet, and I highly recommend this school to anybody looking for a high standard in education as well as a strong, supportive community. The students at Blanchet care about each other, and it is practically impossible to be a 'loner'. Even though Blanchet is a Catholic school, I have had no trouble being lutheran and still feeling welcome. The academics at Blanchet are top-notch. Honors curriculum is available to all grades, but AP courses are typically offered only to grades 11 and 12. Regardless, it is impossible to 'slip under the radar' at Blanchet. The teachers actively engage the class, guiding students toward a higher level of understanding while reinforcing good study habits and active learning. I am actively involved in jazz band, swim team, and St. Vincent De paul society. Due to the multitude of extracurricular programs offered, it is very easy to get involved.

I am a student at BBHS and I really enjoy it. The student body is supportive, as are the teachers, and I feel very comfortable there. When I was there for my first day a long time ago, I was so nervous - but everyone was so welcoming and I fit right in. We have a lot of school spirit. The school is great academically too, but grades are not what they focus on which is a lot of stress off of my shoulders. All in all, I am so glad I go here and wouldn't want to go to any other high school.

I am an alum of Blanchet and I have nothing but great things to say about the school. High school is high school and you will always run into the issue of cliques...Blanchet is no different. I was so well prepared when I went off to college. I learned many key things about studying that have helped me greatly throughout my college years. I look back on my high school years with nothing but fond memories.

I am a current student at Bishop Blanchet and love going to school there. I honestly wouldn't go anywhere else. Everyday you learn something that you didn't already know. The teachers there are willing to help you succed if you are struggling with the material that you are learning. It's a great learning enviroment and I constently tell my friends that don't go to Blanchet that they should have come here because everyone there is very nice! ~ Sophmore Class of 2007

I went to Blanchet some time ago. I have to agree to a certain extent with a couple of the reviewers. If you did not attend a Catholic grade school ie already have a base of friends attending Blanchet whom you had known for some time, weren't above average in sports or from, at least, an upper middle class family, it was very difficult to fit in socially. One positive was that Blanchet's academic standards served me well in college. I seemed more prepared than a lot of my college classmates for the amount of studying college demanded. However, I always felt that the faculty shoeboxed the students and once you were labeled as an average student, there was little you could do to improve your grades or class rank.

I went to this school and hated it! If you were not wealthy, athletic, or caucasian, forget being recognized for anything. There were more drugs in this school than the public schools of the time. The richer kids could afford it.

I was a student here and did not have a positive experience. If your child does not play sports, do not send them to this school. There is no support for children with learning disabilities as well as the fact that the school is not wheel chair friendly.

I am a student at Blanchet and absolutly love it. It was the best choice I made with out my parents telling me what they wanted. From my experience there, I believe Blanchet it one of the most spirited high schools in Seattle (Washington). The faculty and staff love to get the students involved. Blanchet was the right choice for me!
