This school is terrible. My son started Kindergarten here. This was my first child to attend school and they cared nothing about helping us feel comfortable as a family. My son was bullied on the bus within two days of the start of the school year. Nothing was done. He wasn't eating his lunch at school and when I called over and over again to ask what I could do (since they were doing nothing) I would hear things like, "Write him a note." "They only have 20 minutes and kids like to talk..." My son would come home hungry and completely worn out from iut. The teacher was very rude... The principle was the only male on the staff. We pulled him out within a week and homeschooled till we moved away from the area. They can't even afford to give kids proper homework and ask the parents to PRINT it out at home........ ??? Terrible school. I would suggest families request another in the area.
I think that the teachers at this school are some of the most caring, wonderful, and brightest people I've ever met. We've spent time at other schools being in the military and we've never had problems with the other schools. But coming here we were blown away at how much more the kids learned here. The teachers really reach out to each individual student and challenge them to grow intellectually. We moved to this school district in the middle of the school year and the leaps and bounds that they progressed from the beginning of the year just blew our minds. Our favorite teacher was Ms Lisa in kindergarten. She is wonderful and I think if you looked up kindergarten teacher in the dictionary you would find her picture. I've never met anyone with more kindness and patience than her. Everyone at the school is great though!
Cougar valley is a wonderful elementary school. They are very hands on with there learning and have a real love for what they do.
a great school with tons ways have fun and learn new things.
I have 3 kids at Cougar Valley, and after having attended many other schools, we applied to this one from outside the area, because of the high praise we had heard. It was all true! The teachers are great and very helpful. Parents are always welcome at the school, and many parents are very involved. Some of our favorite teachers are Ms. Lisa (K), Mr. Ecklund (P.E.) and Ms. Lauro (6). There are so many fabulous teachers, these are just a few that we have been able to get to know, and we feel really love being teachers and love our kids!
Cougar Valley is one of the best schools that I have encountered. We are a military family and have moved quite a bit. Also my daughter is Special ED and they have gone above and beyond to help my daughter succeed. We came from Hawaii and she couldn't even read, now she is able to read like a champ and is a whiz in math. The teachers and staff in general are compassionate and take the time to get to know the students and their families. I would recommend Cougar Valley to anyone who wants their child in a great school enviroment.
We move quite a bit due to being in the military. We have 3 children so have seen a lot of schools. My children went to this school for 3 years. I volunteered there and got to know the teachers. I have never seen such a school care so much for their students. They truly want each child to succeed and if they are not doing well, they work with these students. Parent involvement was good. Extracurricular activities after school, such as the kids circus in the gym, festivals, camp for 5th graders, music recitals, bingo, etc. were fun and always a great turn out. Music and art were available. They had classes for parents on how to help your student suceed. My children were very sad to leave this school.
I was disapointed with the quality of education, and the treatmen of my child
The best we have experienced in atmosphere, learning, teacher quality, and parent involvement. Outstanding PE, Learning Specialist, Band and Music staff. Both of our children have thrived in this school.
Cougar valley is by far the worst school in the Central Kitsap area.
