I am a student at Klahowya and I feel that this school has gone down hill since I have started there. I have been through a lot of junk at the school. All the kids there are worried about how they look rather than getting an education and they dont have great security/safety protection. I find that very wrong. I think that the Counselors are the best people in the whole school. They have helped me personly through a lot and there are few teachers who actually can teach and be good teachers there! I think the school could step up a little and think about what is really happening in their school. They should learn how to handle situations in a different way.
I am at student here at Klahowya and have been going here since I was a seventh grader. I am now a senior and I can say that I have personally watched Klahowya degenerate through the years. The administrators seem to have no common sense and the apprenticed administrator is and has been going power hungary all year. There has been many problems this year that they have failed to deal with in the right way. I am glad I will no longer be attending this school after this year.
I am actually a student at Klahowya. Before its construction Klahowya was made up to be this cutting edge learning environment with a top of the line education. However, after having attended Klahowya for six years and researching the education of the other High Schools in the Central Kitsap School District I have realized that Klahowya is not even close to what it was supposed to be. Klahowya provides a basic education, and minimal extra curricular activities. WASL scores of Klahowya students are the lowest of the district, and there is not much being done to fix this. High school students often complain about being treated like junior high school students, because the teachers cannot adjust to wide span of ages. Half of the classrooms are located in portable buildings because the main building was constructed with a poor design and a lack of space conservation (meaning lots of open space which could have been used for more classroom space).
Klahowya is more concerned with public appearance then student safety.
I'm a student here at KSS, and I must say, Klahowaya is a great learning environment. Students here feel welcomed by all staff throughout the school. The teachers and counselors are trustworthy, and always here for their 'kids.' Overall, I d have to say Klahowaya is an excellent school, doesn t just teach you academic stuff to get you to college, but it teaches you about life, and how to make it, outside of the safe boundaries of schools.
Too many grades at one school, too many distractions. Too many students to teachers. Not enough sports or other activities for all students to have participate in.
