The school does not seem to be proactive in helping children with special needs. Even when concerns are presented they tend to go by the wayside or fall on deaf ears. I would not reccomend this school at all~!

You cannot beat the outstanding academic programs at Bemiss Elementary. The staff is extremely dedicated to providing an excellent education for every student. Staff collaboration is paramount at Bemiss. The staff works across grade levels from kindergarten through 6th grade to align the curriculum and methods of teaching in order to provide a fluid and consistent education. Music and art are part of the curriculum as well as P.E. And, although sports programs have been cut due to budget concerns at the district level, the school still finds creative ways to make extra-curricular sports happen at Bemiss! There is some parent involvement, but Bemiss is in a 'working-class' neighborhood and many times parents cannot afford the luxury of taking time off to volunteer. Even so, volunteers are always warmly welcomed and greatly appreciated.

Mrs. Spears (Principal) has a wonderful open-door policy and is very easy to talk to. She has great ideas to resolving problems and communicates well with her staff and parents.

My son attended for 6 years and enjoyed it. The administrative leadership and teachers skills are very good.
