Springdale Elementary School has a new reputation! It is now the only Official Visitation School for Core Knowledge in western Washington. Springdale has adopted E.D. Hirsh's Core Knowledge Sequence K-8 and is preparing students for college with it's A.P. courses at the High School. Springdale Elementary and Middle School has adopted a new, zero tolerance bully program called the Dan Olweus program. Discipline problems have been reduced by 75% under principal Helen Hindley by adopting a behavioral ticket program that works in a progressive manner. 3 tickets in one quarter and a student is placed in in-house school tutoring for an entire day. Any excessive or violent behaviors are given automatic suspension. This school has never demonstrated such a high morale, mutual staff and student respect, or teacher enthusiasm as it does today. I'm proud to be a staff member at Springdale Elementary School, Mary Walker School District.
