Pioneer Elementary School

I have been impressed by the quality of reading instruction in this school. The remedial program for kids with learning disabilities is also very effective. The math curriculum is very challenging, but the teaching quality is not there in many cases, so many kids are frustrated by the difficulty of the curriculum. Unfortunately, teachers here are forced to teach to standardized tests, which greatly diminishes their ability to provide instruction in areas other than reading and math. I would love to see more emphasis on science and social studies. Student behavior problems are very prevalent, and a real concern to those of us who desire a wholesome learning environment for our kids.

Pioneer Elementary is a wonderful school that encourages academic achievement for all students. My daughter is in the dual language program and is ahead in all academic areas. I am amazed by her problem solving skills that have been developed by being in this program. She loves school and is eager to attend everyday.
