I think TMS is alright. ALthough my brother had the same problem, teachers were losing his homework. I just wish that they would have some clubs, like Art, Drama, Cooking etc. For middle schoolers!

I am greatly displeased by the Tenino middle school and the lack of leadership by the principle and the superintendent. The principle has said that he has '127 students that should be held back this year.' Yet, he still pass them to the next grade. Our Wasl scores show the lack of assistance. We currently have one of the worst school in the district. At the school board meeting they act surprised that they have student leaving our district. How about sending a survey home and find out what the parent think? Instead we come to open house and teachers say 'I don't have anything for you but you can sign up for conference.' What about a syllabus? What about expectations? Nothing, no communication.

As in any any school there are good and poor teachers. Not all the fingers should be pointed at the teachers. This school has some very good teachers. However, there are some that ruin the reputation for others. One is a compulsive liar. Another teacher's room is like 'Animal House' kids bouncing off everywhere. Another is gone most of the time because of illness. Discipline is almost nil and that is because the administation is too afraid to do anything because it might upset someone and a levy might fail. In speaking with teachers in the building, I found them to be frustrated about many things and some have just given up. The sports program is adequate, but some of the coaches are from the community and lack skills. They need to get rid of those that can't or don't do their job and not be afraid to discipline.

I am very dissatisfied with this school. Students are at a crucial age and need adults that are approachable and knowledgeable about preteen development. Many of the teachers are not even knowledgeable about the subjects they teach. Teachers yell at students and others refuse to respond to students. Communication about behavior standards between staff and children is lacking. This school is a cold, uncaring, punitive place for these young students.

I would rate this school a one. The teachers are lazy and do not have control over the students, The books are old and the teaching is behind time. There is no cafeteria so the students have to eat in the library and can not even visit at lunch. The food is terrible for what you pay for. Their so short staffed that the counsler, and the vice principle have to teach classes. The 8th grade math teacher comes from the high school to teach. I will be so glad when my son is out of this school.

We moved here about 9 years ago and I have three boys in the schools. I have one left to go through the middle school and Im sad for him to have to go though that school. Some of the teachers there are very lazy and they treat the kids like there never going to make it anyways so why help them. I wish they would get a better grip on things at the school.

My husband and i are on our 4th child through tenino's school and i agree that if a child does the work that the work should be graded asap. Both my son and my daughter have had this happen numerous times. What happend to teachers grading things. What is going on there? Tenino's parkside and elem schools are great they take problems and solve them quickly. I really wish that the other 2 schools would get it together. The sixth grade has a teacher that is a compulsive liar and the principal knows it, also a teacher that teaches from her chair! they are responsible for shaping our children. Oh boy!

This is my son's third year at this school and he has been doing okay. But there are always conflicts with one or more teachers. I feel if the child takes the time to do the homework, the teacher should take the time to grade it and not lose it. This does not help the students grades at all. I know I have helped him with his homework. Maybe we has parents should have the teacher sign something when the homework is given to them. Not the student. Other than that it is a great school.
