This school is top notch. Both of our children are excelling in academics as well as socially. The teachers put their heart's into everything. The Solar Energy choir is outstanding and is a true benefit to Spokane Valley as it is featured in many special events including the lighting of the Christmas tree with the Mayor. We only hope that the middle school and high school are as good as Sunrise.

The principal and school counselor truly care about the children under their care; the teachers we have had are energetic and creative; the one-day-a-week pullout gifted program is a lifesaver for our child; the PTO works hard to financially support extras like computers and live whiteboards; there is still music and P.E. -- this is an excellent public school.

Our experience at Sunrise has been completely unexpected...we had always heard good things about the Central Valley School District in General and our child had several friends who attended Kindergarten at Sunrise. To say we are disappointed would be an understatement! We are the parents of an extremely bright, energetic child with a zest for learning. Reading and Mathematics come very easy and in the private Kindergarten that our child attended, the instructors moved them along at a pace consistent with our child's development. Unfortunately for our child, program available for children who are gifted, or merely learn at a faster pace than others. But more important to us, as parents, is the utter lack of Joy in Teaching compared to our former experience with our Private School. The Teaching staff does not encourage thinking and joy in learning, but rather demands uniformity in conduct and class structure at all times.
