As a parent of 3 children who have all attended Henkle, I fell compelled to attest to comments before me on this site and relay my view of this school. Our family can not be MORE PLEASED with the education level, athletics, art and music programs and aptitude of educators and staff within this school community. Teachers strive to hold a standard of excellence with each student, and measures are taken in a positive manner to encourage discipline and behavior with success in mind. As a regular substitute teacher within the district, I am always impressed with the curriculum and delivery of lessons that each teacher uniquely plans. Hands down, I support and encourage anyone who is considering a middle school education for their child with proven success to attend Henkle. The administrators, from the Principal to Vice Principal to support staff also adhere to a policy that only fosters success!

While the teaching staff is in an increased state of turnover, after years of relative stability, there's many EXCELLENT teachers at Henkle. Of course, parents still need to stay involved to keep their kids connected & learning. Sometimes this is advocating for their child, but sometimes it's advocating for the teacher(s). Any school is challenged to give every child, high or low functioning, complete support of their unique interests. For a school this size, I think, they do an exceptional job. Again, it's a parents responsibility to get additional support if needed for their child's unique needs. The district strives to keep art education in the curriculum. 5th & 6th graders get 2 1/2 hrs./week with an art teacher, also get time with a music teacher weekly. Interpersonal communication, community service, and equality are also emphasized. I've witnessed so much progress in these areas over the last 5 years. Love it!

Poor development of academic areas. Superintendant, former PE teacher, has heavy public relations scheme, but limited throughput. WASL test scores dropped sharply after his innaugeration and rising steadily, making the testing system suspect. Superintendant does not enforce any kind of homework regiment. Students average less than 11.3 minutes of homework/night. Heavy emphasis on Sports. Teachers are adequate but not focused enough on developing learning discipline among students. Although a high immigrant population with excessive ESD programs cause drag on the native population. The transient, immigrant population is minimal which causes the greatest impediment to performance. After two years immigrant population is almost fully integrated and performs at par with the native population. Present transition from agricultural 'wood mill' to white collar affluency. However many of the affluent California emmigres stress resort quality life as opposed to academia, namely wind surfing. Additional stresses to education system is high unemployment and above average divorce rate.

I would give 5 stars to Mr. Jeffery Lindstrom for being the best teacher that has ever walked through that building! He is wonderful teacher, coach, parent, and grandparent and we will miss him. He is the best teacher on the earth and I know that everyone would give him every best teacher award they could get! we love you Mr. Lindstrom. But he will never be forgotten at Wayne M Henkle From: his students

I give all five of those stars to Mr. Jeffrey Lindstrom. He is an amazing teacher! He helps students learn things they will use their whole entire life. He is not only an amazing teacher, he is an amazing person. Any school out there will be lucky to have him.

There are some excellent teachers at this school, ones that really care about the students and want to see them succeed in life, then there are some that just dont seem to care.
