There is a lot of favoritism at this school. Children of teachers, siblings of football players, and those who are well known at church can get away with anything. Also, obedience is valued over creativity, curiosity, and intelligence. The staff seems to be more interested in forcing the kids into some weird small-town, conservative mold than encouraging them to find their own strengths and develop them. Individuality is not valued.
The actual building and location are nice, but the teachers are all average at best. There are almost no extra curricular programs, no enrichment programs, and no advanced classes for those who need them. The curriculum is very slow paced, and all the focus goes to the kids who are struggling. If your kid is ahead, they will not be provided with anything more difficult or be encouraged to learn anything new. That's my biggest issue with this school. Also, the school is in a very conservative, mostly Christian town. If you are not teaching your children conservative, Christian values they will not fit in at this school.
Hilton's staff have been an encouragement to my children and left a positive impact on their lives. I've been able to be involved as a volunteer in several capacities over the years and have enjoyed watching the staff interact with their students. The safety and education of the children are taken seriously.
