Both of my children have attended this school and it is a wonderful school. We have a brand new building, we have a great parent/volunteer coordinator, wonderful teachers. The only thing is the principal is a little overbearing, hard to take, and doesn't allow the children to do much for fun, unless you call dancing after lunch in the cafeteria to Barney songs fun..The kids use to have lots of fun before he came to the school. But the Board will do nothing because they are afraid of discrimination lawsuit
Martha has a brand new school building but the atmosphere is depressing.The principal is overbearing and parental involvement is discouraged.My grandchildren beg their parents to move so they can go to a different school.
Theteachers at Martha are what makes the school acceptable. The principal is overly controlling. He vetoes field trips and celebrations that the students have earned. In this rural school of 12 classroom teachers, 8 are leaving for other positions at the end of the year.
Martha is a great school. It is a very close knit school. The teachers and principal seem to have a great concern for our kids. The only problem is that the principal doesn't seem to allow the parents to get as involved as we would like. He has some rules that I'm not sure for his reasoning and is not real receptive when it comes to meeting with parents to discuss this.
Speaking although i have herd many good reviews from other parents about martha elementary, i can not say the same for us. The test scores are good, and the school does try to motivate children with different programs; however, if your child has any difficulty not much is offered by the school. Again i am only speaking from personal experience, i can not speak for everyone. We were not offered tutoring, testing any special help, only to retain the child (many times), and when asked about testing--the response was, he didn't need it. So, we paid for private testing and tutoring for a year. After 2 years the school final said he may need to be tested. After talking with many people, and the be this is not the way it is to be handled.
