I would like to say that I have 3 children who attend Cedar Grove Comm. School. One is in 2nd,3rd and 8th grade. I have been a parent volunteer in this school for 8 years. The younger children Pre-K thru 5th do not have contact with the middle school children, when they are coming down the halls to go to lunch, gym, libary the middle school children are in their classes. I really like this school because no matter what grade your child may be in as a parent you are welcome to their classroom at anytime and you are incouraged to become a volunteer.
I do not like the fact that K-5th grade students are going to the same school with 6th,7th,and 8th grade students. Pre-teen and teenagers can be quite intimidating to smaller children, and they do make it hard on them behind the adults backs. No matter what bullying rules the school abides by, not all kids follows the rules. I think the 6th- 8th grades need to be transported to a middle school. East Bank middle, or DuPont Middle. Some of the smaller children are too afraid to come forth and say they are being mentally tortured by the bigger kids, because of the intimidation. Its hard for all teachers and other adults to keep eyes on all activity going on inside the hallways, before, after and during school. Its impossible
