GES is innovative, child centered, and put the excitement of learning back in school. Curriculum is individualized for each student. Learning is based on questions not compitition. Each student is valued in their role as learner and teacher. Everybody teaches and everybody learns.
This is a top notched school where my kids actually love going to school to learn everyday-the education is progressive, independent learning with an emphasis on the student-centered approach rather than rote memorization or standard text book classes. The students are excited about the thematic approaches to education and pick their own levels of difficulty based on their individual progress. I cannot say enough about the difference between this education experience and that of the public schools locally.
I am actually not a parent, I am a student at GES. I can attest to what the previous review has said, Greenbrier Episcopal School is a fabulous learning environment for me. I get individual attention from all of my teachers because of the few students in the class and I am way ahead of my friends at the public school. My teacher has provided us with an awesome learning environment that includes tables instead of desks, a rug with pillows (we call it the pillow pile,) and fun activities that we can do. I am in the 7th grade class with 9 students. 5 boys and 4 girls. I came to GES in 5th grade. I found that I was challenged more and I succeeded more (I am the type that needs challenge to do my best) I love GES!
My daughter had the pleasure of attending this school and it is without a doubt a great school. The teachers are experts in their field and provide a warm and nurturing environment in their respective classrooms. My child was significantly ahead of her fellow students when she moved into the public school system upon graduation. If you wish to provide your child with the best education possible there is no better choice than Greenbrier Episcopal School.
