Prichard Elementary School

I am currenty checking out reviews for other local schools because of Prichard Elementry. There are some teachers who are excellent, but the majority are horrible, the children are terrified of the principal. Most of the staff is reluctant to inform you of your childs progress. I have already had to contact the board of education on 3 seperate instances. If asked I would warn any parent of this school. What stars I do give it will be solely for those teachers who do manage to keep a professional attitude when surrounded by so many who don't. One of the other comments says that some of the teachers act like they hate their job and that is the truth, they do act like they hate their jobs and the students that they teach. If you're looking at this school for your child, I would run the other way...and FAST.

My daughter was in Mrs. Brown's kindergarden class the 07-08 school year and I would recomend this school to anyone who asked. I was always welcomed into the class and made feel welcome my daughter learned so much i am very happy she is going to be back at prichard again it really makes me feel at ease.

This school has teachers that cooperate with one another to benefit all the children there. There is truly a team environment amongst the faculty. The pricipal is strict but fair, and genuinely cares about all students. Parental involvement is adequate but it seems that there are always the same parents doing extra special things for the children. It is a small but good school and has recieved the school of excellence more than once.

I would have to agree with the first comment. With the exception of 1 or 2 teachers, the other teachers seem like they don't want to be there. The pricipal is very unfriendly and parents are unwelcome. If you hate the career that you have chosen then maybe you should look for one that you would enjoy more. Maybe somewhere that a child or parent would not be a bother. If I am ever asked by someone in the community what I think of this school I would have to say not much and encourage then to seek a different school.

The environment in this school is similar to a prison. There is no nurturing of the children. The principal acts as a dictator with no emotion. Parents are seen as an interference and are unwelcome. Children at this school seem to be withdrawn and exhibit signs of stress and fear.
