SMHS and its community just passed a bond to build a new building, something that was very needed. With the unity that the staff and administration shows, the students are rising to higher expectations. Challenging coursework and the constant striving of the teachers to improve and adapt to the 21st Century makes our students competetive once they enter their post-secondary vocations or education venues. The community surrounds and supports their entire school system. One can be proud to be a part of this great "family" in St. Marys.
All three of my children have attended St. Marys High School in a building that was constructed nearly 100 years ago and is sorely in need of renovations and updates. A bond is currently being presented to Pleasants County voters that will provide a brand new high school with all necessary upgrades and equipment to bring this school into the current era and beyond. Included in the proposal are plans for outstanding, on-site athletic facilities. All of this will allow our students to utilize their brain power in a setting that is conducive to learning, as well as demonstrate their athletic prowess on fields, courts, and tracks that the new facilities will provide. No longer will Pleasants County be one of very few counties in the great state of West Virginia without a new or upgraded high school. The $20,000 prize would help our school to provide any "overlooked" items or equipment that may become evident once construction begins.
I know that most of the teachers at St. Marys High School would do anything they could for the students. This school has had a great amount of change such as going from a 7 period all year long schedule to a block schedule. This school is just going to improve with time as both the students and teachers adapt to block scheduling.
Not only is the faculty great but they help out all the kids in the school, this student must be upset because he has no clue about the school or the people of the city ocf st.Marys if he or she needs help all they have to do is ask the teachers and they will do what they need to do to help this person.Go blue devils
this is the worst school in the area. the faculty is not only completely inadequate but they also have no regard for the well being of these children. avoid at all costs
