I rate this school above average. I was in the first 8th grade class that attended that school. Then it went from 7th to 8th grade then school name was Summersville Junior High. Thank God your children don't have to attend the old Junior High. But most of the teachers really care about their students. You as a parent make think they are hard on your children, but believe me its a good thing. It better prepares them for the future. They just want children to acknowledge their full potientual. If It weren't for them making me work to my full potientual I wouldn't be where I am today. I have owned my own business have a degree and help people with legal issues. I am still going to school to make my dreams come true. The teachers gave me the strength to not give up and the wisdom to perservere.
I appreciate the staff members/teachers and my son enjoys the atmosphere. We've been to better funded schools, we've been to level one schools, and yet SMS is, in all honesty, very well managed and the children are well taught. You couldn't ask for a more aware nor more attentive group. They are an asset to Summersville.
