Our staff has a wonderful relationship with our students. We are committed to help them in any way possible-morning tutoring, one-on-one time in the classroom, small group learning opportunities, etc. As far as parent involvement is concerned, we have a record number of parents involved this year compared to years prior. It s frustrating to see that someone mentioned in a review that they view us as not being a hands-on staff and that we do not attend concerts, when the fact is quite the opposite. As a staff, we are the folks who put together the concerts and not only attend, but run the whole function so I m not sure how someone could say the staff isn t involved. Being a smaller school we are able to focus on the whole child. In many cases we taught the siblings, cousins and perhaps even the parents! I think being student-focused is one of our strong suits! We are always looking for volunteers and parents to come in. Overall, we try to be a family-friendly (as seen by our recent Community Open House), kid centered school with a strong focus on preparing our kids for the future!
I agree with last rating. Having only 15 kids roughly per class and being out in the middle of a rural community, you would expect more hands on attention. The teachers at this small school care very little about the kids and the principal is even worse. Neither want to be spend give any more than they have to. Teachers dont attend Holiday programs or most after school events either.
Not as bad as MPS but needs diversity. Need teacher to be more active in kids' academics. It is in the country-boony so maybe they teach diff. than the big city where I am use to. I would expect that for a small school there would be more personal attention but NOPE there isn't. School staff and admin is not friendly either. Very little parental involvement.
My son and two daughters attend Wayne Elementary. You will not find a friendlier or more dedicated staff. Here is a school that still has the teachers that come in early and stay late to work with kids. Strong academics and a real commitment to preparing kids for the future.
Our goal is to create a positive, open, fun learning environment. Students are asked to push their thinking and work with a variety of tools.
