I am a former parent of the Cedar Grove School District as well as an educator in another Wisconsin school district. Having put 4 children through the Cedar Grove School system, I feel qualified to comment on it's quality. Moving away from the area has given me an opportunity to experience education in other districts. I have found that that the majority of the teachers at Cedar Grove School put forth great effort to assure that children receive creative; hands-on learning. Many schools 'settle' for what is easiest. Cedar Grove's teachers make themselves available for the children to receive extra help if needed. The principal is genuinely interested in what is best for the children. She has encouraged a spirit of success within the school. In matters of discipline, she is firm; yet fair. My experience with Cedar Grove Elementary has been a positive one. I highly recommend this school.
CGB is a great school with excellent parental involvement - PTO is strong/active. Lots of extracurriculars are offered. Sports are very important - some may see this as an asset, others may be concerned with the emphasis. The principal seems to be very involved. Teachers seem interested in children's well-being. One negative, some of the town's lifetime (I mean lifetime as in their ancestors lived here) seem to attempt to be exclusionary to newcomers. This is becoming less of an issue as the community continues to grow quickly and older generations retire. Another concern - they use Open Court reading. Do your own research and decide what you think about this program and let the teacher, principal and school board know. Overall, I am happy with this school. You may request specific teachers for your child and I would encourage you to do so.
