I had students at the school. The oldest had to take a class twice because they couldn't offer another class in that block. No study halls to do work at school. It all came home as homework. If the students needed help from staff it was spotty. Getting kids ready for college was a joke. I pulled the kids when the oldest was a junior and sent the three up to Lake Holcombe. I'm very happy with the move and the help they had and get now.

I graduated from this high school in 1953. It bothers me that nothing has changed. Recently, I related to a friend that my high school education was very inadequate. I decided to research what Cornell is doing in 2011. To my dismay, not much is happening. Despite my meager academic background, Estella School and Cornell High School, I have achieved a BS, MS, and beyond. I was not an athlete, in fact, girls's gym was not introduced until I was a junior, and most so called academics were basic. Girls were directed to home economics and the business courses. What if you did not wish to become the future homemaker of America or work as a clerical? I realize the school district is small, and what is offered and emphasized is relevant to the apparent needs of the community. Please, have a vision. You are part of America. The young people of Cornell need a better future.

Too much emphasis on sports and not enough on academics. No wonder the score is so low.

Cornell School District needs much help in the teaching areas as well as the food and athletic departments. The athletic department needs much needed help in the funding area. The boys and girls teams barely have enough money for the right equipment needed.
