Dedicated and talented staff, friendly and welcoming community, with Catholic values consistently woven through classroom and social environment. A leader in science and tech with robotics, partnership with NASA and other unique opportunities. Set in the middle of a great little community. Great extra curricular opportunities include academic quiz team, forensics, chess, plus great athletics. Great community of happy parents!

St. Mary's Visitation School provides a warm, kind a loving environment where my kids are excelling academically. Teacher hiring is taken very seriously resulting in the most qualified and faith oriented educators. We love our principal and we love our pastor. We have four children at SMV and there isn't a better school out there for our kids.

My children attend Saint Mary's Visitation (SMV) school in Elm Grove. We have been at this school for about 7 years and it keeps getting better. The teachers and principal are so easy to talk to and they listen to me and my children's needs. The families are easy to get to know. It is a very welcoming environment and the education is outstanding. I am so glad we made this choice.

This school is good academically. However, most families are very hard-line Catholics and sorry, you just won't fit in if you are not. I have nothing against anyone's religious beliefs, but you have to partake to belong here. Also, some serious cliques in the upper grades--these girls know how to act like angels in front of their parents while socially isolating a child who is new . Most of the children there have been there since pre-k. Of course, I am not speaking about every class, or every child. Just beware.

I have been a parent at SMV for 10 years. We have been very pleased with the caliber of education our children have enjoyed. It is a faith-filled environment with an excellent teaching staff, recently recognized by the Archdiocese with an Exemplary Status award in Technology. The dedicated leadership from Mary Tretow and Father Peter Berger has been inspiring, as they value input from parents and teachers. Our daughter at DSHA is thriving, thanks to the academic and religious foundation that she received at SMV. Well worth the tuition!

You will not find a better school in the Elmbrook School District. We chose St. Mary's Visitation because of the solid academic attention to each student. Teachers are phenomenol and the principal is beyond excellent. A forward thinking environment with exceptional parents who all want the best for their children is what you will get here. There is no room for negative energy, drama or complaining. Issues are dealt with and solved. Students are treated with respect and students respect each other and their teachers. I volunteer in the lunch room and you'll hear a "yes, please" or no, thank you" from each student. This is a rarity these days. For parents looking to educate their children in an environment with positive academic success, this is the best choice. The Catholic values taught shine through on to who they become as people. GREAT school.

St. Mary Visitation is a wonderful school. It offers a solid Catholic education with very caring, fun, approachable and committed teachers. It has been a great environment for all of our children. Warm, friendly and competitive. The school building was recently renovated and is a real quality upgrade to the physical plant. Our two boys have graduated are now doing well at Marquette High. They were well prepared for highschool. Our two girls are excelling academically and socially at SMV. The other families and parents are exceptional.

The teachers are professional and caring from Jr. K. through 8th grade. Students are provided an excellent academic curriculum and important building blocks of faith and service. This is supplemented by activities that include athletics, music, choir, forensics, and much more. Outstanding communication, from weekly news packets to online websites. The principal is dedicated to its mission statement and is visible in the school life. The facility believes in working with parents to create the best atmosphere and conditions for all students. Parent involvement is high, many creative and diverse skills blending into a well-rounded community. SMV is continually growing for its students and families with additional resources for special needs, technology and building improvements, additional after-school care program, and dedication to continue to be an accredited school. SMV is a school and church community it is a blessing to our spiritual foundation and life with Christ.

St Mary's Visitation of Elm Grove is a wonderful place full of compasionate and caring teachers, administrators and parents. Their students consistently score well academically and the school prepares kids well for high school and life. Stressing 'Respect, Responsibility and Right Relationships' is a central theme. Recent extensive renovations to the school continue to show their committment to a vital and vibrant educational experience. Each of our three sons, two of which are still attending, have benefited from the curriculum, programs and lessons learned at St. Mary's Visitation School.

This school provides an oustanding environment for children to grow academically and as individuals. The teachers are highly committed to the students development and success. The principal is a strong leader committed to academic excellence. Student body gets very high scores on standardized testing. The school provides many opportunities for family participation. We have three children at this school. They love school and are thriving both academically and building relationships with their peers, god and the community. We would highly recommend this school as great preparation for high school and life.

St. Mary's is a great school overall. It imbues a real Christian and Catholic perspective to it's daily life. Children learn and live their religion. They wear uniforms, they are well-disciplined, they attend Mass several times a week. The curriculum is full, with emphasis on reading, writing, math and science. The library is good; lots of computer availability. Smartboards are coming. Spanish instruction starts in Grade 3 and goes thru 8th. Music is a real focus. Graduates generally feel they have been well-prepared for high school. If there's a downside, it's typical of Catholic schools in general--worksheet driven, very traditional curricular materials. That should be a focus for change. More hands-on, less rote and thinking inside the box. But overall, I'd rather have my child in this environment than not.

We have five students attending St. Mary's Visitation, greades 8 to k4, and we have five happy, intellectually challenged students who are also learning to respect and care for their peers and for the poor in the world around them. Our favorite aspect of SMV is the culture of humor, acceptance, and the happy teachers who ENJOY teaching, and nurture our children.

We love St. Mary's school! Our daughter is in K4 and loves school too! She wasn't a fan of pre-school and we struggled with the decision to send her to her pre-school or St. Mary's. We feel we made the right decision! She talks about school, her classmates, teachers, God and the activities ALL the time. We look forward to the next eight years. Also, we have met a lot of great parents too!

This school is average in academics. They teach to the group with little individualized instruction to stretch certain students. There is parent involvement but at times to a disadvantage. Certain groups of parents can have great influence and power. The principal is not very involved with the students in a positive way. She is the disciplinarian. There is no Art teacher for the Elementary Grades, though the teachers have great projects in the classroom. There are often many tests in a week and weeks without tests, this is difficult for students to balance. Social problems exist and are often ignored.

About these ratings

The Community Rating is the school’s average rating from its community members (e.g., parents, students, and school staff). The highest possible rating is five stars; the lowest is one star.

We currently do not have any test score information for this school. Unlike public schools, private schools are not always required to report data about their schools or not required to take the same tests as public schools. Many private schools take different standardized tests; however, that information is often made available only to families of enrolled students. We strive to acquire additional private school data whenever available.
