I love the school. I have three kids attending. The teachers are very caring and work hard at making my kids do better. The elementary is awesome. The advantage of this small of a school is my kids don't get lost in the background if they are not doing well. The new administration is very down to earth and deal with issues in a timely manner. A few minor incidents seem to happen every year. In a small town, everyone hears about them.

We moved into this area last year and what a huge mistake it was for us to send our children to the Granton school. I can not stress what a bad environment this school has (in it's high school anyway). And I agree with the post from 2005 parant...'severely lacking in areas of administration' I guess it hasn't changed in 4 years! There are severe problems in this school that the leadership ignores. Pretending it's not there or doing nothing about what you know as a problem doesn't make it go away. It just grows bigger, and thats what has happened at this school. They are doing no favors to the students that attend there. What a shame!

Both of my children have attended Granton School since they were 4 years old. Also, I have been volunteering in the classrooms for 5 years. The teachers take advantage of the small class sizes to really get to know each student's strengths and weaknesses. The teachers can then challenge each child to do his or her best work. The teachers are receptive to parents' comments and constructive criticisms and are willing to work with parents as a team in helping each child overcome any learning difficulties. The teachers are also very accepting and appreciative of any time the parents can spend helping in the classroom.

I have a step child that goes here and she isn't getting the help she needs and when you ask the staff about what is going on they do not respond or they give an overview of what the whole class is doing not what is happening with just your child I feel that Granton school is behind in their way of teaching

The Granton School district in severely lacking in areas of administration, quality of teachers, discipline, elective classes, and extracirricular activities. Sports available are basketball, softball, and baseball. Granton has an excellent band program but a limited number of instrument choices and available positions. Kids are passed on to the next grade level even though grades are failing. Rules are broken on a regular basis. This school has a lot of potential with the proper leadership in place. At this time, that is not the case. The school has about a half and half ratio of good and poor teachers. Some teachers I've encountered are immature and short tempered. I have two students in the district who get good grades and do well even though they are in what I consider a failing school. This school does not have much to offer but small class size and fear of change.
