St. Alphonsus School

St. Al's definitely holds its own in the middle school area. The total numbers are growing and Gateway to Technology is offered to all middle school students. I have experience with four other parochial schools and this school shines above the rest. Very informed staff with religious and state certifications.

Excellent preschool through 3rd grade program. Mediocre middle school instruction. Many families start their children in the younger grades then move them to Greendale public schools.

We have two children that started in K4 and now have a second grader reading at a 5th grade level and a 5 year old reading chapter books. In addition. We were most impressed with the quality of the teaching staff and strong leadership of the principal. St Al's also implemented the Gateway to Technology(GTT) program incorportating pre-engineering type classes into their middle school. Forensics is available at the 3rd grade level and Spanish & Piano is available starting in K4. Incredible school with high achieving students, faith-driven families and talented staff. We did an exhaustive comparison and couldn't be more impressed!

My two children received excellent academic educations along with strong moral training. The school requires service learning and provides a variety of extracuricular activities and sports- all staffed by volunteers. Individuals are valued. It has a family atmosphere.
