Armitage is a creative learning community that is like a home away from home.
My love for Armitage Academy begins at the very start of the school day. When I drop my son off in the morning, I first and foremost know that he is SAFE. That may be unimportant to some people but having attended a public school in the past and having dealt with bullying issues and more, it is very important to me! The staff and teachers at Armitage are all top notch. As parents entering the school with a middle schooler, we immediately felt welcome and comfortable. The small class size, the school's setting, the fact that the students get to go outside daily to burn up energy and get fresh air, casual uniforms that are a great equalizer, the plays and musical performances, the students all knowing each other and the staff knowing all of them, the fabulous auction fundraiser, the parent ambassadors for each grade that are readily available, oh this list goes on and on! ACADEMICS - my son is learning at an accelerated pace and it feels almost effortless. The teachers and other students set the bar high and inspire new students to do the same. My son looks forward to going to school and is proud of his accomplishments. He is challenged and enjoys it! The teachers are happily available to address questions and concerns from our son or us. Armitage has a huge sense of community - rather, FAMILY that few schools are able to offer. My one complaint - oh yes, I have one - is that Armitage Academy does not offer high school. However, with my son's foundation set at Armitage Academy, I am confident that he can attend any high school and flourish.
We love Armitage because the teachers and administration get to know and sincerely care deeply about each and every child in the school. They care not only about their education, but their emotional and social well being also. I feel good knowing that when I drop my daughter off at school in the morning, she will feel safe and cared about.
I love the atmosphere of the school. It is small enough where you know everyone, and the students can get the individualized attention that they need from the teachers. I also appreciate their devotion to an 'attitude of learning'. This school turns out the most amazing, talented young people that I have ever had the pleasure to know. The teachers and staff are the most hard working, dedicated educators that I have ever seen, and their enthusiasm and creativity shows daily.
Armitage has a strong academic and arts program: music, drama, painting, French from kindergaden. Each child is treated as an individual and developped as such. If you child is strong in a subject he is given advance materia. If he needs more help in another subject he is helped till the concept is fully understood. Teachers are very prompt in responding to questions. Children are also taught social skills by mentoring younger children.
Since my oldest son was two years old we knew our children would be attending Armitage. What initially attracted my husband and I to the school was it's strong emphasis on academics and the arts. What we got was so much more. There is no other school that a child could attend and freely be himself on every level. The teachers are compassionate and devoted to every child's potential and self-worth. This place just feels like home............
Wonderful school! Those who do not attend are definitely missing out.
This school offers great opportunities for students to learn in all aspects of education. The academic programs are great due to the small class sizes and individual instructions. The students are always challenged to do more in their studies. Also, the school teaches them confidence, respect, and a care for others.
Imagine a school where every student knows the name of every other student and every teacher & staff member... and all of the staff & teachers know every child. Add to that a small enough class size per grade to allow a personalized educational experience for every student... and then add to that a set of teachers who care deeply, teach passionately, and are more creative and flexible than any of their peers in any other school. Top it all off with a strong liberal arts & sciences curriculum, amazing opportunities for art, public speaking, drama, singing, a French language program as well as one for physical education... and that, my friends, is the Armitage Difference. Just watch over the years how your child blossoms into a confident, intelligent, and amazing young adult!
With the small class size the teachers are able to customize your child's education, so that they're constantly being challenged while making sure that they understand the key concepts. It's a warm, supportive and nurtuting environment that I am happy to send my child each day.
