The school is great. Like all places some teachers are better than others. It took me a while to get the school to stop complaining that my child was unfocused. If felt like they wanted me to put my son on meds. Once I pushed the teacher that he was bored and is focused once challenged he would do well. She did and found out that he should have been identified for the gifted and talented program by his previous teacher and wasn't. Now he is being challenged and is doing very well. I wish I would have had this teacher in first grade and not third. Academically this is the best school in the fox valley. I was very disappointed by the strike the teachers had in 2010, that is illegal but they did it anyway.
This School Is fantastic. I love it. We do put too much money into sports, and it does get annoying sometimes, but it rarely interfears with my learning. I AM taught grammar, i DON'T have "independent study time", my teachers always teach me all day long, and DON'T eat while they teach me. My Teachers are wonderful WITH a dress code, and I have loved every second of the last 13 years of my life in the Kimberly School district, and would never want to go to another school!
Was shocked to see this rating. No spelling tests in the grade school classrooms, teacher are NOT allowed to teach grammar, do not teach cursive writing. Only instruct 50% of day, rest of grade school time "independent study". How constructive is a 9 year old with his time really? Teachers have their desks piled up with food jars which they eat while they instruct. No dress code for teachers. High level of bullying in older grades. Its a mess desguised by a pretty building. School district is almost $3 million in debt!
this is an excellent school. i really feel like the teachers care for us and they try to help us with any problem
I do think the education provided by my fellow peers is excellent but there is far too much emphasis on sports. My biggest complaint is the school board and HR who have caused good teachers and good subs to leave because of cowing to one or a small minority of views. I love my job and enjoy the kids but this silliness has to stop.
This is a great school with many interesting choices of curriculum for students, and with good teachers that are willing to help regardless of whether or not they are your teacher at all. The cafeteria serves good food, and the library has many computers that students are free to use, as well as videocameras that are welcome for use in school projects.
I'm a current student at Kimberly High School and i give it a 3 star rating for 2 reasons. One is the gym classes. if you have a medical excuse that isn't 'good enough' they'll still push you until you do what they tell you and if you're on an athletic team you get favored. secondly there isn't many options for advanced English classes
As both a parent and a teacher in the Kimberly school district, I would like to salute all who have educated my sons. One of my sons is well into his engineering career and the other will start college in the fall. Their teachers were mentors who helped shape their ideas and ideals. They both found a niche to thrive and were supported by the staff and facilities in their pursuit of success. As a teacher, the training that we receive AFTER we take the teaching job is tremendous. Collaboration, mentoring, and teacher coaching are part of the 'norm' in our teaching experiences. On a side note, traffic was not an issue for my sons. because they were so involved in the life of the school, they were in the building studying, training or hanging out well before start time with the assistance of teachers and trainers. Amazing...
The classes, programs, and sports are highly competitive and are among the best in the state! The traffic issue is minor, as most students choose to drive, start at the same time, and do not leave a minute early. I would choose this school under 'open enrollment' enen if I lived in a neighboring community! The band opportunities, with private lessons and mandatory solo ensemble competitions, allow the students to excel without realizing their skills surpass others within the valley. The athletic programs are balanced and competitive, but many students try multiple sports. Everyone who wants to run, can run in either track or cross country without the fear of being cut, but knowing that others will cheer for you just to improve your time. Other high schools and administrations benchmark against this school. This is a quality 5 star high school for your young adult!
Though kimberly has potential to be a good school, it has many flaws that cause me to give it a 1 star rating. One of the flaws is the increasing amount of students in the school; this leads to 15 minute waits in traffic getting into and out of school. It is not uncommon for students to be stuck in traffic long enough that they miss homeroom which is punished by the school. Also, due to the increasing amount of students attending KHS, lunchrooms and hallways are very crowded, I would not recommend sending your children to Kimberly due to this. One major reason I dislike Kimberly is their view on athletics. The school has very good programs and equipment for children who want to work out, children who may not be as fit as other students will often feel embarrassed due to Kimberlys forms of gym class.
