Southern Bluffs is an excellent school. Their principal is dedicated to the saftey and education of our children. When unexpected mold was found in the school during an inspection last summer, she was on the contractors case to clean up the problem. She worked all summer and helped supervise the cleanup so that the school would meet the deadline before fall session of school would start. The teaching assistants who help kids with special needs and who just help - are an asset. The school is located by Mt. LaCrosse ski hill in a beautiful location on Hwy14/61. The YMCA has afterschool care in the gym for students until 6:00pm. There is soccer and softball available afterschool in the spring and many other extra curricular events.

This is a wonderful school, especially if you have a special needs kid. They work hard with these kids and integrate them into the regular classroom as soon as possible. The expectations for regular students are high and most students live up to these expectations. Parent involvement is encouraged. I will say that sometimes the special kids do seem to take away teaching time in the regular classroom and unfortunately at times inhibit the other kids. I generally believe it is a benefit for all kids to accept everyone as they are, disabilities and all. Great PTO -- involved in lots of aspects of school, from buying sleds to publishing a year book and holding family picnics.
