Edgewood High School is an excellent school. Small classes, caring faculty and staff. Financial aid available. Awesome sports and arts departments. An excellent choice to prepare your child for college.

Please don't come to this school if you are not a Christian, white, and rich.I was none of those and I was miserable for the years I was in this school.Also, there is not much extracurricular activities to participate in compare to public schools...also not much class choices.The education is not really different from the public schools.In conclusion, come to this school if you want to meet other rich white kids :)

Edgewood is living off their reputation from long ago. This school was once an elite school, but in my opinion it has lost a step. Teachers that have been there for many years are not as engaged and have developed a very arrogant approach. Our son is now a senior and even he comments that he feels like the teachers act like the kids are lucky to be there. It has lost the small feel where the teachers truly care about the kids and go out of their way to help. The Principal is a very nice man, but the tail wags the dog at this school. He's a former teacher who does not possess the leadership necessary to keep Edgewood on an elite track. If I had another child coming through the system, I could not justify the cost of Edgewood.

I am currently a sophomore at edgewood and i love it! because of the small size i know everyone and its a great place to go. The work is hard but the teachers rock and its a blast!

Yes, the public schools in Madison are above average but Edgewood is an Elite school for students at any learning level, with caring teachers, great classes, and AMAZING extracurricular activities. Is it worth the 9000? YES! Having a degree from Edgewood, puts you level ahead of the other surrounding schools. NOTE: Edgewood was just voted the Best Dane County High School, by Madison Mag.

I am currently a Junior at Edgewood and my sister and brother both have graduated from Edgewood having B-A averages. My sister currently got the opportunity to attend a high-end photography school in Paris, my brother runs track at a small D-3 college, proving that even though attending a smaller school it doesnt limit your athletic goals. (9 sport teams in 2009 winning the conference) Edgewood has awesome clubs. About 98 percent of the students are currently in a club, and the diversity issue theres now a club where we celebrate diversity!! Edgewood isnt an Elite school, its something that cant be explained it words. Many students coming out of Edgewood, have enough college credits to skip the freshman 'basic classes' and graduate in 3 years!! so when being asked would you rather go to edgewood or a public school like middleton or west. by a long shot its edgewood

Edgewood High School prepares students for College by discussing and preparing from as early as Freshman year. The students and teachers work together with councilors and parents to help each student reach their academic goals. Edgewood provides a community atmosphere where students can explore a variety of intrests from Aviation to Science Olympiad to Photography, to Law and the list goes on. Edgewood is well worth the financial sacrifice. Families who could never afford an Edgewood Education are given a boost by generous alumni donors who have seen the benefit of an Edgewood education.

Sorry to hear about your frustrations but I find this difficult to believe. Especially since Edgewood is a college prep high school. I have a niece that goes to Edgewood. She too is a Straight 'A' students. Her Teachers recognized her ability and requested she complete Algebra during the summer of her 7th & 8th grade year so she could start High school math in the beginning of her 8th grade year. I have spoken with many students both past and present and they love(ed) Edgewood. My husband and I can only dream about our kids attending Edgewood. But it's not in our financial future. Your lucky to be there, I hope you realize that. There are many who would love to wear your shoes.

Edgewood thinks it's an elite school with kids and courses that are better than average. I write this from the perspective of a straight A student's parent. I'm not 'jealous'. The school has no diversity. The 'financial aid given to 40% of the students' only helps the upper middle class. I thought it was worth the struggle, financially, to send my child to Edgewood, but I am looking again at Open Enrollment or even moving to a better Madison area district. My child is not challenged in most classes. I've had to call the guidance counselor 2-3 times to get an answer. Teams did not talk about problems that I was told they would talk about. Edgewood really is not as great as they promote it to be. I think it is a GOOD school. It is not a great school.
