Work and Learn has been a god send for my daughter. She has always wanted to either work in daycare or nursing. WLC has given her the chance to explore these careers at the same time helping her graduate. She has a learning disability so always struggled in school. Then freshman year she learned she had Crohns disease and started missing tons of school. She never would have been able to catch up. WLC only lets kids move on when they've demonstrated knowledge of content (and rarely through tests) and isn't credit based. She is still learning what she needs to know, but also getting the chance to be ready for her next phase of life. She'll have a diploma and be working as an EMT by next Spring. The teachers are awesome. Knowledgable about content and teaching kids of all backgrounds and abilities, caring, and accessible. If your student needs something other than the traditional approach to education, I'd definitly recommend this program.
