I have taught for over 34 years and been in 5 school districts in Wisconsin. In that time I have taught in High School for 14 years and Elementary and Middle School for 20. In the past 2 years I have moved into the North Lakeland School District where I have been a substitute teacher from 1st to 8th grade over 70 times, so I feel qualified and comfortable in comparing North Lakeland with my other schools. And I can say that this school district is staffed by competent and caring teachers. Students have the opportunity not offered in other districts such as a wide variety of outdoor educational opportunities and field trips. Homework is measured and challenging. Staff are always available for extra help. There is also a respectful and easy rapport between staff and students. Discipline is firm but fair. Parents can be assured of a quality education.

Used to be a great school but no longer. Acedemics is not as important as minor disiplinary infractions. Too bad the teachers no longer care.

We have lived in this school district for 14 years and continue to be so impressed with not only the quality of education provided the students as evidenced by recent national test scores, but with an atmosphere that is so conducive to learning. We are in the school once a week to listen to the first graders read and are able to observe the way in which the whole staff seems to interact with the students. They so obviously love their professions and seem to have that unusual ability to be loving caring teachers while at the same time maintaining discipline and respect among their students. It is unusual to be in a school atmosphere where everyone on the staff from principal, teachers, kitchen staff (who make awesome home made breads and wonderful nutritious meals) and maintenance men, seem to so enjoy what they do.

I can not say enough about this school. They really do focus on the kids. Quality time for the ones that really need help. Smaller class sizes, teachers can spend more one on one time with the kids. Great communication with the parents. Principal is on top of things. Just a great place to send your child for that extra something.

I really enjoy searching the greatschools website to see how other districts, which I am most familiar with, compare to North Lakeland. Shorewood's Lake Bluff and Atwater, Union Grove, and South Milwaukee appear to have positive reviews; however, nothing compares to this school in the serene Northwoods. If you're looking for a place to raise children in an academic, wholesome environment, I've seen none better than this district. Having been raised by some of Wisconsin's best in Menomonee Falls and Janesville, this is the the school by which to compare all others if expectations are high and if the environment is important.
