While this school does have a lot of community involvement, it is totally corrupt. The teachers/staff have no control over the students and it is a terrible learning environment especially for students who may need special attention. The troubled children(which there are many) ruin it for those who are thriving. The curriculum is poor with students scores well below the city and national guidelines. This school might as well be an alternative school based on the lack of structure, respect, and obedience these children have. The only possibility for improvement in my opinion would be to wean out extreme problematic children and enforce stricter consequences for disobedience and disruption of the learning environment.

Sherman is a charming old building with great architechtural beauty, gorgeous woodwork, and expansive hallways. Bud Selig, Major League baseball Comissioner, and Herb Kohl, US Senator, are among the distinguished alumni. Sherman is emerging from a period of growth pains as it tranitioned from a K4-5th grade school to a K4- 8th grade school. The teaching staff is becoming more and more stable and the parents are becoming ever increasingly involved in the schools governance. Sherman is the sort of school that can really make a world of difference in the academic growth for a family. There are programs and a caring environment for the entire family. Sherman is worth the committment of time and energy to makeit an even more successful school. Come join our winning learning community!
