Urban Day had a wonderful headstart program 7 years ago when my son started, which is why I enrolled him. (Ms. Linda is the BEST headstart teacher in the entire universe)!! He had a awesome start at Urban Day and very really patient and caring teachers and administration. They worked with us to try and help my son through his behavior issues and I love all of them for that. Last year both campuses merged and shortly after there was a new Principal hired. That patient, caring atmosphere changed and I no longer felt my son was wanted there. The last straw was when I told the Principal I was removing both of my children from Urban Day and he responded "OK". I was in total shock. I was forced to uproot my kids from the only school they knew and place them somewhere they didn't know anything about. My kids will not be anywhere they aren't wanted and cared for.

Urban day is a great school for students. Teachers and staff push students to improve academically, in addition to strengthening their social skills. The whole school participates in SFA, which is a reading program that is tailored to meet the needs of each and every student. However, beware that there is a lack of consistency in staff. Recently, administration let go 10 employees due to low enrollment. Students had to leave the comfort of their classroom and be split up to enter into a different classroom after one month of being in school. The entire school started their school year entirely over, losing precious instructional time. Student to teacher ratio used to be low, and now classrooms are near 30 students. I fear that students will not receive the same attention due to increased numbers. I'm not sure what direction Urban Day School is headed in, but I wish them luck!

I have a child enrolled in this school, and am more than satisfied with the perfomance of this school. The staff is very friendly. My daily experience from the greeter at the front door, to the staff in the hallways, to my childs teachers Ms Shannon and Ms Nicole is always a very pleasant experience. They are very patient with my child. They always appear to be happy to see the children, and my daughter loves them dearly. She has grown immensly both socially, behaviorally, and educationally. I would highly recommend this school to any parent that is looking for a school for their child. I would like to thanks the Urban Day staff for all the hard work they put in teaching our children

Urban day has engaged in systemic transformation changes under the leadership of their new principal, Ms. H-W. She has a "no nonsense" disposition and is adamant about ensuring that the students are prepared for college and beyond, not high school. The classrooms are identified by the year students will graduate from a 4 year university, the names of an institute of higher education as well as the college mascot. Teachers are held accountable for student learning by using data from the quarterly exams to make decisions about what they are teeaching. The students respect Ms. H-W and know that she will not tolerate misbehavior. Some families are upset becasue their children who chronically disrupted teaching have been expelled so that teachers can teach and students can learn. This principal is always out of her office visiting classrooms and making sure teachers are doing their jobs. Last year half the teachers were fired and Ms. H-W chose a new staff. Her goal is to make Urban day a high performing school. She is a New Leader for New Schools fellow and will not sto until Urban Day is a 90/90/90 school. You may not like her but you have to respect her and what she is doing

The school leadership is disgraceful. They truly do not care about the students. It sickens me to have family friends who have attended this school.

My first grandchild entered this school 5 years ago. Currently I have three grandchildren enrolled here. I must say the staff teachers and administrators have been outstanding! I have worked with teachers who are genuinely there teaching because they love TEACHING! Some I even feel deserved to be acknowleged Nationally because of their dedication. If someone can direct me on how to nominate them please do let me know. Urban Day keep up the good work! If there was more schools like Urban Day, less children would be left behind.
