Any Montessori program gives the tools for "independent" kids to succeed. This is what Kozy is all about! I am a parent-volunteer and I see things: I love how these kids enjoy going to school... my own child loves the interaction with the teachers, the classmates and everyone at the school. I have noticed that students at Kozy are very smart--- they can read a lot better than in a regular school, and it seems that their everyday judgement is very good, considering their age!

I did alot of research on this school back in January of 2008 when looking to place my child in school for his first year. Kosciuszko eliminated its middle school program and is getting a fresh start through its K3 - 2 Montessori program. My 3 yr old son started this year and so far, it has gone well. His teacher is attentive, encourages me to contact her at home for a weekly discussion, works to know each of her students and is open for suggestions. The before and after school program, ran by UMOS, is wonderful. The staff are friendly, warm and kind. They plan activities for the children and provides more guidance than a daycare or babysitter. They encourage active social skills. I will provide another review at the end of October.

About these ratings

The Community Rating is the school’s average rating from its community members (e.g., parents, students, and school staff). The highest possible rating is five stars; the lowest is one star.

Oops! We currently do not have any test score information for this school. Public and charter school test scores for most states come from the state Department of Education. The most common reasons we might not have this data are either that not enough students took the test or that the school was recently opened, and its scores have not yet been reported.

average

Our rating (from 1 to 10) reflects a school's overall performance. The higher the rating, the more likely the school will prepare your child for the future, so choose an above-average school (8-10) if possible. For average schools (4-7), do careful research and look for evidence that the school has high-quality programs. For below-average schools (1-3), take caution; a low-performing school may not provide the instruction or environment your child needs to learn, and you may need to supplement classroom lessons at home.

Academic rating

The academic rating is made up of equally-weighted parts: students' test scores, their academic growth (for elementary and middle schools) and their readiness for college (for high schools). Unfortunately, this school doesn't have sufficient data to generate an academic rating.

Climate ratings

This rating encompasses five elements of school climate: safety and cleanliness, respect and relationships, expectations for students, teacher collaboration and support, and parent involvement. This school's climate ratings are the result of GreatSchools' analysis of teacher survey data from the Spring 2013 School Climate Survey developed by Milwaukee Public Schools. Unfortunately, this school didn't provide enough survey responses to generate a climate rating.
