Our school is a place that is safe and unique in the fact that we provide such an extensive variety of programs. Our curriculum is not only academically excellent but builds foundational characteristics in each of our students. We dedicate ourselves to our students not just during the school day 8-3:30, but beyond because we offer our after school program and summer school program which keeps children engaged during the often unsupervised and dangerous after school hours. We offer a holistic learning environment that really supports the development of students academically, spiritually, and emotionally.

My school is a caring place where boys and girls can come to learn in a safe and loving environment. They will exit the school with a solid education and the character to better their own neighborhoods. Our parents are so supportive because they know that Notre Dame supports their own educational and spiritual goals of their children.

NDMS is an amazing place for young women. The staff and faculty go the extra mile to make sure the students succeed and that they are supported in every aspect of their education. NDMS also has the highest test scores in Milwaukee, which is a great reflection of the work done each day to help students. LOVE this place!

This school is truly amazing. Notre Dame Middle School embodies the ideal of what education should be. It teaches students about working toward a positive, fulfilling and successful life. The school stresses respect toward all and fosters a community of responsibility. Part of the foundation is to emphasize that the students need to share their gifts with the larger community creating an atmosphere of not only community but service. In an economically disadvantaged neighborhood in Milwaukee, WI, Notre Dame Middle School brings not only a strong education but a strong Catholic education, and helps the students prepare to move on to college-preparatory high schools.

Notre Dame is great school both students, teachers and parents. The small environment allows for teachers and staff to know students and parents well. Mutual support and a focus on academics creates and environment of learning and respect throughout the school.

Notre Dame Middle School provides an environment for girls to flourish. They have a solid curriculum that proveds a great education. Then add in the after school program . This middle school assists students to excel in high school & college. Providing mentors, after school help & scholarships. It is a commitment to the student that lasts for the rest of her life. These graduates are strong, smart and socially minded. NDMS changes lives forever.

Notre Dame is a small school with a family feel. Students can get an excellent education with enough support for a lifetime. The staff actually tracks students and alumnae beyond 8th grade and offers guidance for their futures in education.

Notre Dame Middle School is dedicated to helping Hispanic girls to get ready for high schoola and complete it. Their care and concern continues after the girls graduate from eighth grade. Contacts are kept up, tutoring is offered. Most of their graduates go on to college!

Notre Dame Middle School is a bi-lingual school of excellence designed especially to assist Hispanic students in Milwaukee, WI to overcome the language/cultural handicaps in learning in order to be leaders in the community. The percentage of those who graduate from High School and go onto College is phenomenal. It was founded and continues under the sponsorship of the School Sisters of Notre Dame who have been strong and leading educators in this country since 1847 when they came to America - and Milwaukee - then, to teach German immigrants. Go! See for yourself what an awesome group of students these are.

It is a Nativity Miguel model school sponsored by the School Sisters of Notre Dame that is community-minded and promotes education that transforms the student in order to ultimately transform the world. It is more than a middle school in that it provides after school activities for the students each and every day, has a creative summer school component, and follows its graduates through high school and college in a strong graduate support program. It is special because it focuses on the needs of Hispanic girls who are considered 'at risk.'

About the tests


In 2012-2013 Wisconsin used the Wisconsin Student Assessment System (WSAS), which includes the WKCE and WAA, to test students in grades 3 through 8 and 10 in math and reading, and in grades 4, 8 and 10 in language arts, science and social studies. The WSAS is a standards-based test, which means it measures how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Wisconsin. The goal is for all students to score at or above the proficient level. In private schools, only voucher program participants are tested.

The different student groups are identified by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction. If there are fewer than 5 students in a particular group in a school, the state doesn't report data for that group. Subgroup scores for each school are only reported for students who were enrolled as of the fall enrollment count. The All students score includes results for all students who took the test, regardless of when they first enrolled in the school.

GreatSchools Rating

For private schools, the GreatSchools academic rating is based on test scores and student growth measures from students participating in the Milwaukee Parental Choice Program and is not necessarily reflective of performance for all students at a private school. GreatSchools is working with state education officials in the hopes of presenting a more comprehensive picture of student performance at private schools in the future. In the meantime, we encourage reaching out to private schools of interest about specific testing information.

A school with a lower rating may have a weaker learning environment or allow disrespectful behavior.


Promoting high academic expectations for all students.

This rating sheds light on the academic expectations that teachers have for students. At a school with a higher rating, educators are more likely to stress academic success, ask kids to work hard and expect kids to be college-bound. At schools with lower ratings, it may be more acceptable for students to put in average or minimal effort, perform poorly on tests and lack strong academic goals.

This rating indicates how teachers feel about their school's professional environment. At a highly rated school, teachers are more likely to work well together, learn from one another, have opportunities for professional development and feel supported by the administration. At a school with lower ratings, teachers may not interact much, feel appreciated or have much input in school decisions and policies.


Informing and including families.

This rating reflects how much communication parents can expect from this school. A highly rated school is more likely to have regular communication (e.g. newsletters, emails, and meetings) between administrators, teachers and parents. This may include information about student progress, homework help and volunteer opportunities. At lower-rated schools, parents may not get regular updates and may feel less welcome at school.

  • Our after-school program provides academic assistance and support, as well as many extracurricular and enrichment opportunities for our students. Students are required to attend at least two weeks of a wide variety of summer camps each year. Many graduates return to our school regularly for academic support and guidance. We just recently added a co-ed, dual-langauge primary school at 1115 S. 7th St., Milwaukee. We currently have K5 through 2nd grade and will continue to add one grade per year
