Well organized school with a modern approach to learning. My daughter has excelled! Dress code and standards of conduct instill respect and sense of community amongst the diverse student body. Frequency of progress reports and conferences keep parents well informed. Format helps students regain confidence if they have struggled academically or socially in traditional public school setting.

MC2 assessed our Freshman's needs and gave her the individual support and professional expertise to surpass her own expectations. She is more confident, interested and informed than when she first walked in their door. MC2 made our Freshman a better student and a more mature teenager. The entire staff is responsible for her academic success and her personal development.

I appreciate finding this small high school which is able to provide an educational experience more tailored to individual student needs. MC2 provides a rather intimate environment where I have found the principal and the teachers to be receptive to our input. The teachers are able to recognize and work with my daughter's intellectual gifts and her challenges. Although the online curriculum has some inevitable limitations, I know that the staff is working on expanding the course options and they were flexible enough to grant credit for other types of courses in which my daughter engaged. My daughter feels safe, happy and accomplished at this school.

If you are looking for a small high school with the caring teachers and administrators, you are in the right place. My experience as a parent has been encouraging as I witnessed the teachers willingness to adjust to many different learning styles and not try to fit every student into the same mold. It was also great to see the teachers and administrators support the team sporting events after school as spectators not because they had to but becasue they wanted to. In a small school envirnonment that kind of support goes a long way for students transitioning into adulthood, looking for acceptance and encouragement. The Cyber school approach to education in this setting is the best of both worlds because the socialization of a classroom setting is in place yet the student has the opportunity to over time have online classes that can be completed at their own pace. Particularly beneficial for Cyber parents who can log on for daily progress, attendance and email updates. Wether your student is advanced or average, don't miss the option of Milwaukee Community Cyber School to round out the unique educational experience you may be searching for in Milwaukee.

We love seeing how our son's confidence has improved at MC2. The entire staff guides his learning without hovering and validates his intelligence by knowing him for who her really is. We are very pleased that MC2 has become such an important part of his educational journey.

About the tests

In 2011-2012 Wisconsin used the Wisconsin Student Assessment System (WSAS), which includes the WKCE and WAA, to test students in grades 3 through 8 and 10 in math and reading, and in grades 4, 8 and 10 in language arts, science and social studies. The WSAS is a standards-based test, which means it measures how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Wisconsin. The goal is for all students to score at or above the proficient level. In private schools, only voucher program participants are tested.

The different student groups are identified by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction. If there are fewer than 5 students in a particular group in a school, the state doesn't report data for that group. Subgroup scores for each school are only reported for students who were enrolled as of the fall enrollment count. The All students score includes results for all students who took the test, regardless of when they first enrolled in the school.

average

Our rating (from 1 to 10) reflects a school's overall performance. The higher the rating, the more likely the school will prepare your child for the future, so choose an above-average school (8-10) if possible. For average schools (4-7), do careful research and look for evidence that the school has high-quality programs. For below-average schools (1-3), take caution; a low-performing school may not provide the instruction or environment your child needs to learn, and you may need to supplement classroom lessons at home.

Academic rating

The academic rating is made up of equally-weighted parts: students' test scores, their academic growth (for elementary and middle schools) and their readiness for college (for high schools). The graphs below compare this school's results in each area to other schools in the city and state.

Climate ratings

This rating encompasses five elements of school climate: safety and cleanliness, respect and relationships, expectations for students, teacher collaboration and support, and parent involvement. This school's climate ratings are the result of GreatSchools' analysis of teacher survey data from the Spring 2012 School Climate Survey developed by Milwaukee Public Schools. Unfortunately, this school didn't provide enough survey responses to generate a climate rating.
