New facility opened in 2006. Physical layout allows for 'pod' to group each grade (K-6). This allows teachers to collaborate and puts students in the same grade together. Each pod has a common area with computers. All classrooms use 'smart board' technology - interactive for teachers and students. The physical layout also considers/reinforces safety through automatic alarms to lock down and segregate classrooms, pods, main hallways and the main entrance in the event of a 'code red' threat. Very active and engaged building staff including the principal, classroom teachers, specialty teachers, admin & volunteer staff, and custodians. Excellent library, gym, and playgrounds. It is a minor miracle a public school of this caliber was built by decisions from a school board that has a history divisive, combative, and inter-agenda driven local politics.
